Hello! I've come to realize that I have a crush on a good friend. We're both girls and she is a lesbian (I'm demi-biromantic) and we recently went on a school trip with our robotics team and got a lot closer. She's said before that (pt 1 robocrush)

she's against dating on the team, particularly in our subteam. But at the same time, she was acting very suspicious when another subteam member asked if she had a crush, and if she did, whether it was a team member or not. I think (pt 2 robocrush)she may have caught on to my crush on her, as well, but hasn't acted any differently towards me. I don't want to lose her because of some stupid crush. What should I do? Ask her about it? Never speak of it? (pt 3 robocrush)=========================Hi loverly, What makes you think that she may have caught onto your feelings for her? You said she hasn’t behaved any differently so it’s probably not going to be evident in the things she does. Has she said anything that may have indicated one way or the other? Do you know why she’s against dating? Typically people say they’re against dating because they just got out of a relationship but it can also be because she’s not romantically interested in dating. So figuring out which one it is can really help you understand what she may be thinking. I think the best thing you can do is talk about it. If you don’t talk about it, you’re going to have this crush that leaves you thinking, “Does she like me?” “Do we have a chance?” “What if I had told her?” I don’t think that it’s always going to yield the answer you want and that it’ll always work but it will help you eliminate those what-ifs situation What may be best now is to wait it out for a little bit and see where it goes. I don’t really know how long this has been going on but I’d say wait for another week or two just to get a good idea of where you stand first before making any decision. But ultimately talking about it is your best shot. I admit that it might be awkward and things may change but in my opinion that is better than living in what-ifs. If you come in with “I want you to know that I feel this way about you but you’re not obligated to feel the same and I don’t mind if you don’t feel the same” mentality it may help direct the conversation better. However, all of this is your choice, love. Whether or not you want to tell her how you feel is completely up to you. This is what I think is the best solution because I believe that living means to be your full self and nothing gets done if we hide how we feel. We should be able to love openly and be rejected openly to prevent any misunderstanding. I think you should follow your heart. Do you want to tell her? Do you want to take that risk and tell her anyway or do you feel better not saying anything? Friendships can’t always be the same but things like this can either make or break a friendship. My best friend asked me out and we went through that stage of awkwardness but all of it made us closer now because we don’t have anything else to hide. Follow your heart but take your brain with you.
