The aesthetic of Science Fiction is really quite versatile. It’s relatable in that much of our lives and that of our forebears are spent reacting to world-changing technology but is also an excellent backdrop to stories of both the horrific and the fantastic. I find that the music of Roborg captures the above ideas quite beautifully; the stories they paint in my mind are multihued and exhilarating and terrifying. E P I S O D E  F O U R

Last episode I shared with you one of my favorite albums. Interestingly, Home is rather an infamous artist within the Vaporwave community; we’ll discuss why this is as well as some related ideas soon! For today, let’s dip our toes into the third of our mission-statement genres: Darkwave. This is a weird one given that it is essentially the least well defined of the genres, and at least to me ought to be considered under the synthwave umbrella. Regardless, I share with you today an artist who is not particularly well known but who is quite close to my heart. The artist describes the genre of this album as “dark synthwave” which, perhaps, gives additional credence to my comment about the genre as a whole. Meta-discussion aside, I love this album and hope you will too; enjoy the haunting x-files-meets-80s-synth jams of We Are Destroyers by Roborg!
