The problem with Scream.
The thing with Scream is it no longer works without Sidney that's a big reason Scream 5 was so disliked by such a large portion of the fanbase. I don't hate the idea of them trying something new and connecting certain characters to other killers like they did, but they've had Sidney be such a big part of the Scream franchise for four movies, going to be five when this movie comes out, and she was even partly involved with Scream 5 because she was related to Tara. Not only that, but having Billy return in any type of way with hallucinations and Sam being related to him, and now Mathew Lillard coming back as possibly Stu again it really just seems like they are really showing that Scream can't progress without the first movie.
That tells me that if Scream ever wants to do anything new then they need to reboot the franchise entirely. Like these characters are getting older, not crazy old, Lillard and Campbell are in their 50s, but do you really expect to see them 15 years from now still doing Scream? Don't even get me started on Roger Jackson, the voice of Ghostface himself, he's 67.
Don't look at this at me hating on Scream, I absolutely love Scream, it's my favorite slasher franchise right alongside Terrifier, but I just worry about what the future might hold for it. I mean heck, maybe with Sidney and possibly Stu both being in this new movie they'll finally show they want to do something new. They wanted Tara in Scream 5, but the fans wanted Sidney. Maybe Sidney will go out with a bang and kill Stu for good in this new movie, but in the process kill herself, I mean they already showed they aren't afraid to kill legacy characters with Dewey.
If you don’t like scary movies but want to try to watch some, I suggest looking at the casts other roles. It became much easier for me to watch Scream when I learned that the voice of ghost face was also the voice actor for Mojo Jojo. Imagine getting stalked by a green cartoon monkey.
