I don’t think he was a prude, but I think his aversion to Jane Shore and his general dislike for Edward’s dissolute behavior suggests he was pretty self-righteous and probably a bit sanctimonious re: sexual (mis)conduct?
So disapproving of adultery makes a person self-righteous and sanctimonious? Wow. We don't even know that's the only reason he disliked Jane Shore. She could have been a pain in the royal butt.
In any case, he can't have hated Jane too terribly. After he became king he caught her committing treason (helping the Woodvilles, of all people!), which gave him not only excuse but valid reason to execute her. Instead he made her do penance, which was a slap on the wrist for what she had done.
