This might just be a matter of just when Oda codified "haki" in canon, but I am kinda confused about Haki vs. Rokushiki, which was previously the big non-devil-fruit superpower. Obviously CP9 used that, and we didn't see them using Haki at all, even Lucci. And Garp was teaching Koby Haki. Both of them develop Haki later on.

I also know Haki was introduced at the very very beginning when Shanks scared off the sea king.

Conqueror's haki is super rare and the ability to have it is something you are born with/fated to have. But there are other kinds that anyone can have if they are trained.

So I'm mostly curious if there is any fandom knowledge about why Haki was introduced so early and then left alone for a while, and if it has any tie to Rokushiki or if that power is sort of forgotten (except for Luffy's Gear 2) now that haki has been introduced.

Blackbeard's Odd Body

Blackbeard can possess two Devil Fruit powers and live which is supposed to be impossible.

Marco attributes it to his odd body. He is a doctor so might of examine him.

Supposedly Teach has never slept in his life which I'm assuming Marco meant when he said they all knew he was not normal.

The first time we hear about sleepless people is from Luffy. According to him snow country people do not sleep because they would die if they do.

Coincidentally Blackbeard attacked Drum Kindgom but I don't if Blackbeard's sleeplessness is related to snow countries.

So far we have only the superstitious reason eating two Devil Fruits kills the user; demons fighting in the user's body.

Vegapunk's theory about Devil Fruits is that they are possible future branches of human evolution desired by someone. And that power users exist in dimensions dreamed up by people before them.

While adding symbolism to Blackbeard since he literally can't dream but can consume multiple Devil Fruits. It doesn't explain why eating two kills the eater but I think there is still a clue.

If Devil Fruit powers represent possibilities of human evolution then why was the Hito Hito no Mi created? We even had Usopp commenting around about no one wanting it. Also the fruit was located on Drum Kingdom which Blackbeard attacked.

CP-9 demonstrate through mastery of Rokushiki that humans can be superhuman. I think them revealing that the consequences of eating two Devil Fruits was a hint.

Superhumans can also be created through science. I think Blackbeard is descended from a modify human who was given the ability to eat multiple Devil Fruits.

I think he inherited this ability through his bloodline similar to Poseidon.

Vegapunk revealed that the Ancient Kingdom was scientifically advanced. The assumption is that they created Devil Fruits meaning they can manipulate bloodline elements. Which I think means modify humans existed in the past and one desired to be an ordinary human. Sanji is an example of a modified human who wanted to keep his humanity.

I believe this explains why the Hito Hito no Mi exists since genetic modifications seem permanent.

According to the Gorosei Blackbeard is the first recorded person to eat two Devil Fruits.

I think Blackbeard is Luffy's dark parallel. We know Luffy was first person to awaken the Nika fruit in 800 years. I don't if we can take it at face value that Teach has never slept but maybe he was able to awaken the science in his body similar to Sanji.
