🇬🇧 - Io Saturnalia to all my fellow Roman and Merry Christmas! Saturnalia was a Roman feast that were organized in the months of November and December. In those feasts, the slaves takes the place of the masters and the masters the place of the slaves. There were sacrifices and other kind of things. I know I'm a bit late but here is a little draw I've made! I wanted to try some new brushes!
Roman General Maximilian Veers. He really suits this time period I think 😉 this was a very intense look from Julian Glover but I enjoyed drawing his profile in this one.
March 16, 44 BCE:
Caesar’s Magister equitum, Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, brings his army into Rome
Caesar’s deputy acted swiftly and marched 6000 soldiers into Rome and their presence on Campus Martius must have made Brutus & co worried . Actually the conspirators had already fled to Capitoline hill and Lepidus was ready to assault and wipe them out. The sole remaining consul Marcus Antonius and Aulus Hirtius who preferred negotiations dissuaded him from this attack. .
( Triumvir Lepidus is depicted in this gold coin; issued in 42 BCE by Publius Clodius)

In 40 CE, Gnaeus Julius Agricola, a Roman general and the governor of Britain who conquered Wales and Northern England, was born in Gallia Narbonensis.
Jean Germain Drouais (1763-1788) “Marius at Minturnae” (1786) Oil on canvas Neoclassical Located in the Musée du Louvre, Paris, France
The Roman general Marius, seated and designated by his helmet on the table, was defeated by his rival Sylla. This scene takes place in 89 BC, at Minturnae in Campania, where he was taken prisoner, tried and sentenced to death. Emphatically gesturing to the soldier who has come to execute him, he says, “Would you dare kill Marius?” The young soldier has stepped back and, unable meet the general’s piercing gaze, has covered his face with his cloak. The Greek biographer Plutarch recounts this in his “Lives of Illustrious Men,” adding that the soldier fled, crying out, “I could never kill Marius!”
So I did a thing. It's shit. Sorry. I decided to try my hand at it, probably shouldn't have. :/
Posting something here after an eternity!!
It's been a while since I haven't posted anything, so here is a little draw of General Claudius I've made 3 months ago, and that I totally forgot to post! For the story of Claudius: He's an old and grumpy Roman General. He fought at Carthage and had seen a lot more campaigns. He saw a lot of countries. He earned his scar because of a surprise attack from a barbarian who wanted to kill him but didn't manage to do so. He keeps the blade of the sword of the barbarian as a necklace protected into a leather pocket. He's 60, and he's usually very stern. For now he stands into one of the roman camp near the village of Asterix.
