The Family Wizard Competition
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place au were Billie's identity is revealed early because she and Roman grew up together as little kids, and either the memory charm didn't work all that well or it was never cast on Roman. In the original series, it's canon that the memory charm isn't exactly foolproof since in "Eat to the Beat" Harper gets her memories erased by Stevie and literally the next episode is starting to remember at least enough to be able to tell something is wrong and to tell Alex and have her cast the counterspell. So imagine Alex and Justin cast the memory spell and either it works but they forgot to cast the spell on Roman leading to them being very confused the next time Alex visits when little Roman asks where his cousin is. After all, as far as Alex knows, she's never even been pregnant before. Or the spell doesn't fully work with Billy and Roman both growing up with vague half-forgotten memories that don't make any sense both of them having this feeling like they are missing something but having no idea what until the moment Alex and Bille show up and the two of them lay eyes on each other for the first time.
I looked on AO3 but I’m surprised there isn’t any fics about young Billie before the mind wipe visiting her Uncle Justin and Aunt Giada. I wonder what her and Roman’s cousin interactions were like? I just think it would be cute and I hope we get some flashbacks.
WBWP FINALE
Ok so i just finished it, that was absolutely crazy...
Some stuff I loved, seeing Harper and an early dating version of Giada and Justin. What I loved even more, them acknowledging that they made Justin fall in love with a fierce redhead with a loud mouth.
Something that pissed me off: WHY IS MASON DEAD?!!!!?
Listen, I never liked Mason much after the whole Juliet thing. Especially after Alex and him got back together, it always was so forced.
Also HE ATE DEAN!
But that's a complaint for another day...
I just want answers man..
Anyway, Roman getting tossed around through a window thrice in an episode was strangely cathartic. Especially after that second season of him turning entirely into Mini Justin.
Finding Damien was definitely a plus point, but I feel like this series has left so much to imagination. We don't know how Alex and Mason broke up, we don't know if it was cause he died, we don't know how he died and we have absolutely no clue as to how Alex and Damien got together.
Theresa coming in and saving the day was cute, so was that last scene in the sub shop. I think the addition of the wowp og transition music was sooo good.
Ok I'm very random in this review...
While I appreciate how they ended it and while I loved a KILL THE EVIL GUY moment, it just felt extremely hollow. The og series and much of season 1&2 of wbwp focused a lot on normal lives with magic and seeing a greater plot was new but with the limited time it just didn't turn out as good as it couldve been.
I wouldn't call it bad, just as someone who adores this entire show idea and was really hoping for something like a second Raven's Home, it didn't hit right. It felt comedic where it shouldn't have, we don't know why the main villain is the way he is and honestly I had more appreciation for Silus in the first season. That dude at least had his reasons.
Also, Harper's whole: "call me once you're home cause we NEED to talk"
Man what? Have they not been talking or some shit? Because you can never convince me of that.
In the end, all I really wanted was explanations and not more questions. Unfortunately I got a bunch of questions.
So I've been watching Wizards Beyond Waverly Place and I'm so confused as to why Roman and Milo aren't wizards. Like Jerry wasn't even a wizard anymore when he had kids and all three of them had magic. And clearly Justin still has his powers, but neither of his kids do? For some reason?
Also, unrelated, but where is Billie's family? Does she have one?
Ok Justin was 20 at the end of Waverly place (2012)
This show takes place in 2024 (12 years later)
His oldest son seems around 12/13
But he didn’t meet Giada (his wife) until after he was fired from Wiztech
So either
A. Justin was only Headmaster of wiztech for a very short time (a year or less) before the “unicorn incident” when he was fired, after which he immediately met Giada and had Roman
B. Justin didn’t meet Giada after he was fired. He temporarily had a Hannah Montana double life thing going on until he couldn’t handle it anymore. Eventually this pressure caused the “unicorn incident” and Justin fully committed his life to being mortal with his wife and son
C. Roman isn’t biologically Giada’s he’s either adopted (which I wouldn’t guess cause he’s a mini Justin) OR he’s from a previous relationship… this is a roundabout way of saying Juliette is Roman’s bio mom, which might also explain the lack of powers thing
