Confession: I did not learn that New York City is made up of islands until I saw an episode of Wizards of Waverly Place in like, middle school, where Justin mentioned that Alex has been banned from several island locations because she thinks that when you’re on an island, there are no rules, and then Harper pointed out that they all live on Manhattan Island and Justin replied “doesn’t that explain a lot?”

It took me watching Wizards of Waverly Place to learn that. Until that point, I thought that New York City was just one gigantic landmass. Like I knew there were rivers and big bridges going over those rivers and I probably assumed they separated the boroughs but somehow I never connected that those are islands lol
