ok i feel it now (the urge to talk about disney plus moving...) and you know what i can't stop thinking about (besides 'i'm dying inside')? mi hyun mission, the first time, the one she failed. she was on top of her class, the best of the best, her powers are all about having the best instincts, she can see, hear, smell, taste anything better than anyone. and then, during her first mission, she decides she doesn't want to be a part of a massacre, even if what she is doing is part of her job, even if they're "spies". in that moment she makes a decision she knows will cost her, but she does it anyway. and then outside that building doosik is looking at her and he realizes what she is doing and instead of killing her, or even killing the other spies, he does nothing. he lets them go, he lets mi hyun go, too. he says he fell for her at first sight, but i also feel like he recognized himself in her, too. a person that doesn't play by the rules if the rules make no sense, they're both called 'humanists' by their boss later on, because they care more about the wellbeing of other humans than the actual mission. and what's incredible about them as a couple is that mi hyun, once again, decides she wants to fail her other assignment. doosik knows her from before and he also realizes she isn't trying her best to complete her mission. he knows she's bait, but he is curious anyways, about her. she is also very curious about him, but I feel like it's the sincerity they both share that draws them together. you can clearly see how bong seok is just like his dad when he likes someone. doosik is probably the most powerful human in this universe (the gov. acknowledges he is above them) but when it comes to human interactions he is very awkward at it, but his attempts are very sincere. he brings her food, he pretends he has no money so he can ask her for coffee, he walks with her and they eat together. that's why the betrayal is worse once she realizes the boss is using her, filming her, because those moments were supposed to be only theirs. and even when he comes back, fully knowing he will get caught, they're not alone. but the most amazing part of it all is that even if you know they're looking, and in the end they know it, they never act like there is anyone else in the room with them. when they're together they only have eyes for each other, just like when hui soo got hurt and the first person she looked at was bong seok. !!! i love them very much.
