I'm a disaster romantic

I love the idea of romance, but I can't handle it

I love the idea of being liked in a romantic way but I'll likely won't notice if someone does and I'll surely won't be able to handle it if someone confesses to me

Some of the memories that keep haunting me are how I screwed up big the only time someone confessed to me and how I kept being an anxious wreck during the only three first dates I ever went on (two of which were with two really creepy guys because I can't say no in fear of being impolite)

I have a complicated history with touch and intimacy

I second guess and doubt everything

But I keep being a romantic and hoping I'll be in a relationship someday, but I also keep thinking that nobody would want to put up with the mess I am (I mean, I myself don't want to put up with it) and I'm unable to pursue anyone because I don’t socialise much and I always assume everyone is taken or definitely not interested in me
