Year 1556 Part 8:
Rose also celebrated her eighteenth birthday in Tartosa which was a joy for Larissa and Gideon. Gideon was glad to see both of his children as adults though the birthday reminded him of his own age while Larissa was disappointed she could no longer admit to anyone in her new town that she was her daughter’s mother. She was just her aging husband’s far younger wife. The real trouble faced by the Scott family was that Rose had began courting a local nobleman’s son named John Laurent and it was very unclear where he stood on vampires.
While the Scott family dealt with their own troubles, Millicent Mayne had her sixth birthday and her hair lightened to a more blue color as opposed the the green it was initially though Elinor figured that it could change over time.
Anthony turned 35 with little fuss in the home.
Rose Scott (1847-1925) was a women’s rights activist from Australia. She was the founder of the Women’s Political Education League in the country.
She was active in society in Sydney, founding the Women’s Literary Society in 1889, which turned into the Womanhood Suffrage League two years later. Her activism led to the age of consent being raised to sixteen, improved conditions for female prisoners, and the appointment of female inspectors in shops and factories.
The craven witch, to give in in that servile manner and worse still to turn the tables on her own sex! From that moment I was a rebel against all injustice and wrong.

I am now wed to Eliza. The wedding went as planned, with both our families in attendance, as well as friends. Daniel came to congratulate us on our union (he’s now engaged to Mia, I hear). I’m a married man - it feels strange. Eliza goes on and on about the exciting life that awaits us...I hope I can match her enthusiasm, and be a good husband.
