Hello this is me ranting AGAIN, this time about Raven’s hideous storyline this season because I hate what they’re doing to her character so much and after 7x13 I can’t keep it shut.

First of all, a large part of this whole “Raven is a coward/does grey things” stuff was a ridiculous expedient to prop up Clarke’s supposed flawlessness, strength and perfection. Whether you agree with this depiction of Clarke or not, from a narrative point of view this is such a stupid move. We are CONSTANTLY reminded of how good and special Clarke is, literally in every season. Lexa, Roan, Bellamy, Dante, Monty, Abby, Jaha and a shit ton of other characters mention at least once how good/special/smart/brave/unique she is. Okay, she’s special, we get it, she’s the lead! We know she’s brave because of her actions, we know she’s loved because of what other characters say about her. Therefore, THERE IS NO FUCKING NEED TO BUILD RAVEN’S ENTIRE STORYLINE IN THE SHOW’S LAST SEASON to elevate Clarke once again (yes 7x06 “Nakara”, I’m looking at you)!! This is just so shitty and disrespectful to the character and the audience.

Raven “I don’t run” Reyes a coward? Really?? Where, exactly??? We’re talking about the girl who launched herself into space in an old wrecked pod, the girl who brought the bomb to the bridge by herself in season 1 and was not afraid to die to blow it up. The girl who managed to overcome her disability and went into Mount Weather to mess up the turbines, who chose to stay behind and die alone in season 4, who again chose to stay behind, alone, on a ship she had no way to leave in season 5, who let Murphy go while she stayed with the people who tortured her, and I forgot something for sure. And you want me to believe that she wouldn’t go into a room with radiation to help a man save the human race because “she was afraid”? Furthermore, in 7x03 we see that no one else could have done Raven’s work, and why would she be scared of going into the room when they were all going to die anyway if no one repaired the pipes? She doesn’t show cowardice in the rest of the season either, so do you really think your audience is this stupid? Go fuck yourselves.

And no, sorry, this is not me being butthurt because one of my favourite characters was “a coward”. Of course Raven is flawed, all characters on this show except freaking Picasso are, my favourites may be some of the most flawed, actually. And I don’t mind that at all, it’s part of why they are who they are and part of why I love them. There are several occasions in which Raven showed weakness or made choices I didn’t really like. But the beauty of her character is exactly that she accepts and overcomes everything. That she’s so strong and brave and even when she’s afraid that doesn’t keep her from doing her best and saving people. So, hell to the fucking no, Raven Reyes is not a coward.

Just to be clear, I don’t blame Ross Knight entirely for that mess of a scene with Nikki. The guy had the difficult task of dealing with the steaming pile of dung that is Raven’s storyline this season which started in 7x03, so apart from the ill choice of words, I don’t fully blame him.
