I use a very precise tagging system. In show-related posts, I often write/reblog critique about characters and writing. None of my posts contains hate as in name-calling, slurs, insults and stuff, but I’m going to tag it as “anti” anyway. If you don’t want to read critique about certain characters/ships/topics, I suggest you blacklist the words (example: “anti name surname” or “anti ship name”).

I’m open to discussions and constructive criticism, while I won’t tolerate messages/asks/interactions that are offensive or hateful to me or other people. I also like to do asks, so don’t hesitate to send some if you want to say hello, ask about something or just vent!

AI has made the internet so much less fun. I don't want to question whether a photo of a bunny is real. I don't want to worry about someone making a deepfake just because I posted a pic with my friends. I want to read a recipe and know that the photo is a real cake they made. Yes I know I need to touch grass but also I think I should be allowed to interact online without second-guessing whether someone fabricated every image for personal gain

@float-me-now made a new post because the old one got long :)

I had to check the wiki to see if I didn't confuse canon with headcanon because while reading the manga I also didn't come away with the knowledge of who exactly killed Alex. The wiki says Domina, but they don't have a chapter or fanbook reference, so I don't know :D

The ages of some of the characters and especially that of the divine visionaries don't make any sense at all. I made a list of them once; it was difficult. And don't get me started on Alex and Orter and who the senior and junior is between them 😭 Orter is 23 and became a DV 2/3 years ago. Alex died at the age of 21. You can make sense of all of that but you need to bent some stuff.

And yeah, it's good to see Orter taking better (even if its asshole-ish) care of Dot and Lance as a senpai, especially when we think back to how he was late for his job when Alex died. Btw when Alex says that Orter reminds him of his brother, he specifically talks about an older brother. I checked the original Japanese for that one.

(That potential Orter fic would be part 2 of a Rayne/Orter ship fic I'm writing right now. Part 1 is Rayne centric and goes into his life and psyche, while part 2 will be Orter-centric. 60k as of right now.)

Yeah I figured that the whole “Domina killed Alex” thing was more of an inference than anything else lol

I did too! I tried to make sense of the Divine Visionaries ages and succession line but there’s absolutely no way to come to a reasonable solution lol. Either Rayne is not the youngest visionary because someone like Tsurara or Agito would end up being younger than him at the time of their proclamation or Orter is not the one who came directly before Rayne -even counting the hypothetical other Visionary, also because we have no idea how the police academy worked and how many years it covered-. I made this list on a piece of paper full of arrows and hypotheses and NOTHING made sense 😂

There’s no understanding the Orter/Alex thing without bending stuff either, I agree. I didn’t know about Alex’s brother being older than him! I can’t wait to put my hands on the fanbook lol

As far as the fic is concerned: I’ve read what you published so far!

I don’t ship Rayne and Orter and my ace ass does not understand the “smutty” parts but I’m enjoying the rest of it a lot! Rayne does have a punk vibe but I’ve never linked it to trauma and anger/emotional issues so it is quite an interesting take! The concept of Rayne and Orter being complementary in their issues and dynamics holds lots of potential.

I enjoy your writing style a lot, it’s really fun and as much as I usually don’t appreciate OOC writing I understand that when canon is inconsistent at best and nonexistent at worst it’s the only way that enables people to create something.

Bonus points for perfectly describing what my own experience of a classroom was when I was in school (pure sensory hell and constant anger lol) I’ve read that part like “oh shit but that’s ME” 🤣 - though luckily that is no trauma response, it’s just the way I am wired -

When I finished Mashle, I barely shipped anything but I read through the fics that looked interesting with the characters I liked the most. Normally, canon interaction is the first thing that makes me ship people, followed by the potential of heightened emotions. Rayne x Orter didn't really fit those categories at first. They only fought together once and didn't interact much other than that.

Then I read the Mashle wiki where nearly every character had a questionnaire from the fanbook on their page, and one of the questions was "Your favourite type of opposite sex". So I'm going through the answers and Rayne's is a little gay with "Never thought about it" and Orter is completely gay with "Not interested" and BAM!

Canon charactization + potential suddenly appeared. And those two were already among my favourites, so yeah :D

For the fic: I had no clear vision for it when I started. I was in a massive writing slump at the time and watching Mashle and wanting to write for it was what pulled me out of that. The first chapter started as a Rayne-centric character study and while writing that part I thought of maybe making this a ship fic, too.

Then I thought up Rayne's non-canon emotional problems to give him and the fic some meat and that's how my Mashle fic happened :)

And I'm glad to have given you some classroom problems representation 🥰

I had totally interpreted Rayne's lack of interest in the opposite sex as in "I'm too worried about my tasks and my little brother so I never really thought about it" and Orter's as in "I'm aroace as fuck and I don't have the emotional bandwidth to care about a relationship" 🤣

I never considered the possible gayness of it all also because anime romantic relationships are usually pretty "standard" (meaning heterosexual) but yeah, it could be read as gay too!
