*gore warning* *not for shock value*
Checked on my rot pots today. My D.eer scapula are almost mone and my el.k skull has a ways to go. I switched out the dirt so I could use the death dirt for my garden. Excited for these to finish up!

I’m getting into vulture culture and found a dead starling (no injuries at all!) outside three days ago.
(Self reminder bit!) I buried it in a rot pot/container yesterday, May 5.
I’m technically not supposed to have brought it in my house... but.. I think it’s a bit too late to follow that rule. I really wish I had cut off and mummified the wings, but I’m too much of a beginner to even think of cutting off bird wings. (Maybe someday I’ll have the courage...) I’ll have to try that with my next find since I buried the entire bird! (I just want the skull but can not fathom the thought of cutting off a bird’s head)
Let’s just hope there isn’t too much stink coming from the tiny hidden dead bird garden..
CW: Rotting Dead shit
The serve storms and flooding rain washed out my burial bin and the chicken I was processing washed up to the surface is covered in maggots and stinks 🤢
It's gonna process quicker this way anyway but it's gross and I got one (1) maggot on my shoe and almost cried
Question for more experienced vultures (/culturers?)
I’ve just started the rot pot method with a roadkill squirrel. How long should I leave it considering it’s pretty chilly here and just at the end of winter? What else should I do/avoid?
my first ever rot pot! i found a dried out complete rat carcass and wanted to give maceration a try! fingers crossed!

I found a dead mouse today! I couldn't take photos because she was very VERY stinky and needed to go in the rot pot straight away. Her name is Mrs. Brisby and I love and support her in her journey of decomposition
Question: What do y’all do with the ‘guts’ after skinning a project? Do you have a separate ‘rot pot’ of sorts for them?
I back up to a forest reservation (thingy?), so could I just throw the guts back over my fence? I can’t keep them just randomly in my backyard or anything b/c one of my d0gs has decided that he likes the idea of trying to eat all of my projects (he tries to eat through the rot-pot dirt to my projects unless I watch him whenever he’s outside, so another open rot-pot isn’t ideal, but I could try I suppose?
If it helps my projects get cleaner faster, I want to figure out what to do with the guts.
