Snow Queen -> follows Gerda and Kay. A magical shard enters Kay’s heart and eye, making him forgetful of his relationship with Gerda. He becomes cold and distant. The snow queen comes and takes Kay to her ice palace where he becomes trapped in some logical puzzle. Gerda ventures out to save him which she does through her tears landing on the shards, melting them away which frees Kay from the Snow Queens grasp.
Vasilla the beautiful-> essentially like Cinderella. Vasilla is a beautiful young girl whose loving mother dies. Her stepsisters/mother abuses her. One day they send her out to the forest in which Vasilla meets Baba Yaga. She helps Baba Yaga out with impossible tasks and in turn it gifts her a glowing skull lantern which she brings back home and the lantern melts her step-family away.
Swan lake -> Odette is cursed by a sorcerer, to become a swan whose trapped in a lake. At night she becomes human. Anyways, the prince Siegfried promises to save her through true love however at a ball, the sorcerer tricks the prince by presenting Odille, who looks like Odette. The prince declares his love for Odille, breaking his promise to odette unknowingly. Their happy ending is choosing to die together.
How does this relate to elriel/Vassien?
Vassa is Vasilla. She was betrayed by the other human queens which holds elements to the story of vasilla the beautiful (being betrayed/abused by those closest to you.) Vassa’s story IS a version of swan lake, instead of a swan, she’s cursed to be a firebird that can also transform into human at a specific time. Lucien is literally a spell-cleavers’ son, he should be able to break Vassa’s curse. Elain is Odille. She isn’t Luciens’ soulmate, but rather a distraction for Lucien so he isn’t focused on Vassa, his firebird, just like Odille was to the Prince. Lucien believes Elain is his mate aka “true love” where in reality, its Vassa and this might be the key to breaking her curse. Koshei is the sorcerer. The big puppet behind all this. In snow queen, Azriel is Kay. I believe Azriel will be lured into the prison, where he will see that mirror Feyre looked into during acowar. The one that shows the ugliest and worst parts of you. Looking into the mirror will deeply affect Azriel, maybe even making him suspectible to Koshei who will then trap Azriel in the prison for whatever reason just like that daglan in HOFAS. Elain will be the one to come and save him, conquering the prison. The trembling Fawn associated with Spring and life heading into the mountain of death and mist all for her lover.
Bonus? Elain mentions a box thats very valuable to Koshei. In the mythology, that box holds Koshei’s immortality. Where is that box located? On an island. What is the prison? An island. Elain isn’t heading towards Kosheis lake, instead she will go to the prison to save Azriel but also find this box - which could be the item she scrys for. Whilst Lucien goes to Koshies lake for Vassa. Once Elain destroys the contents of the box at the prison only then can Lucien or Vassa kill Koshei at his lake. Both stories need to be told simultaneously as they are so intertwined together.
