my deltarune au idea because i decided to be cringey YAY!! The premise is a personality swap, but specifically for the royalty of deltarune. The rest of the characters retain their regular personalities, but ofc the story and character relationships change as a result of these few personality swaps.

Ralsei: Instead of being humble and friendly, he's rude and egotistical. He hails himself as the 'king' of darkness and makes an effort to rule over those in his social sphere. He doesn't care about the prophecy; disregarding it completely and holding the belief that it can be changed if you 'work hard enough'. Because of King's incessant begging, he does eventually join the lightners on their mission- however, he does it with forced kindness and, at times, will hinder their progression.

Queen: Still a laptop of course, but instead imagine that she's one of those old laggy laptops that your school refuses to replace because they don't have the means. Queen is reclusive, stern, and late to trends. Instead of sort slang on her visor, she writes out unnecessarily long words. Even though she's not that into people, she has a huge soft spot for king and peruses him in secret.

King: Totally spineless. Instead of being a domineering king figure, he's basically just there for show and nothing else. All the actual royal duties have fallen onto Ralsei. He is actually the one that initially tells Kris/Susie about the prophecy, and does his best to help them out with what little power he has left.

Lancer: A militant, basically. He's aggressive/violent, and genuinely a figure to be feared. He takes everything way too seriously and despises lightners. He ends up being the main boss fight in chapter 1 instead of king.

Idk if I'll do more with this idea.. I'd like to, but I'm also very lazy so we'll see LOL.

King Sans (who just hired the first people he thought of for the high rank positions in the kingdom, his family) and won the one and only election in the underground by default. (Everyone knew who he was, just didn't know the other contestants). And Asgore, the divorced repeat lost child adopter. Just keeps accidentally taking care of orphaned troubled kids.

Muffet, the former treasurer of the kingdom and election sabotager with a kind heart. And Toriel, the famous teacher of the most prestigious culinary school in Hotland.

-May's conflict with her is about the idea that "blood is thicker than water" rather than romantic tension (May does not believe that Jack would rather stay with a nobody with an evil sword over one of his only living relatives who's also royalty)

-it's unclear if she's wearing really loose pants or a skirt (canonically royals all wear skintight clothes but that looks really boring so i'm ignoring that)

swap au doodle dump. today i'm tossing ideas at the wall to see which ones stick

i feel like May would be illiterate. education probably wouldn't be a priority in her stepmother's eyes. it would also be cool if she came up with a phonetic cipher or something to leave notes for herself

and here's how well her friends are gonna be able to teach her to read/write

regardless how horrible they are at teaching she's going to get there. for plot reasons

it's just kind of funny

this one's specific to the Penelope-Phillip swap (royalswap) one. in the Jill-Penelope-Phillip (trioswap) one, Phillip is just inexplicably cursed instead but in this idea Penelope is still cursed. not-Lian takes her into the castle and triggers the curse like in canon, and then Penelope disappears for almost a full book

maybe Phillip joins the squad. imagine pirate Phillip. i'm now picturing him swearing like a sailor

this one's pretty evil. it twists the mirror's prophecy (i think?? i kind of forgot. it's the one that says one boy betrays May and the other dies) in the opposite way of canon!

huh let's not end on a downer. here's some random stuff

Penelope doesn't really feel like a swords person to me. so after a lot of thinking I've decided to give eye Penelope throwing stars/knives and prince Penelope a pistol. her neutral special is a GUN. the pistol bit's inspired by this song that gives me similar vibes to the Phillip and Jack climax fight in book 3

"pistols in a fantasy book??" i swear i can make this work: due to either Penelope or Phillip being cursed her kingdom has either thrown out all the spindles or had less market for spindles bc Phillip's kingdom doesn;'t buy them. so they need a new source of income. and their solution is guns! thanks for coming to my ted talk
