The World Ahead, and Shattered Chains Behind by PitViperOfDoom

it was such a pleasure to collaborate with @pitviperofdoom for the rusty quill big bang event! it was my first time participating in an event as an artist, and i enjoyed it a lot. thank you to @pilesofnonsense for hosting the event!

lots of firsts for this book! first time binding with tapes, first time using my new fabric paint on the spine, first time making my own end papers, and first time doing embroidery on the cover! i’d never embroidered anything before, but i wanted to try something ambitious for this project, and i’ve also been interested in trying out embroidered bookcloth for a while, so this seemed like the right time to try! sanskrit has a lot of little fiddly lines that made it challenging to do as a first-time project, but on the other hand, nobody will probably notice if a word or two are a bit funky XD

the endpapers are made from black cardstock and gold heat-transfer foil, done using a foil quill pen. i’m quite happy with how they turned out, and it’s something i’ll definitely be doing again in the future! the thickness of the cardstock also worked well for pasting over the embroidered bits of bookcloth. (the foil quill pen was also meant to be used to put the title on in gold foil, but the end result was really lackluster, so i went over it in gold paint instead, which i think worked out well!)

this is a delightful story, and i had such a fun time reading it, typesetting it, and coming up with a cover design for it! thank you pit for being such a wonderful partner--be sure to go check out her fic on Ao3 💜

I joined in the Rusty Quill Big Bang event hosted by @pilesofnonsense this year and was paired with @lieutenantdru with their fic A Little Shy and Sad of Eye ! I ended up going overboard and made 4 pieces for it! It was fun to collaborate with people, thank you for letting me join!

BB time!! This year I participated in the Rusty Quill Big Bang hosted by @pilesofnonsense and was paired with @hotdrinks for his fic Nothing Hurts Here, a TMA jonmartin fic with beautiful visuals and a very capital l Lonely atmosphere. Go check it out! :D

it’s an incredible soulmate AU fic centered around Jon, Gerry, and Agnes, a connection that crosses time and space- even if they’re too far apart to meet in person.

I’m so excited I got to be in this event and draw for it! It’s been so much fun <3

With the Magnus Institute, the Beholding, and Elias’s machinations finally behind them, Jon and Martin take to the road and stumble upon a small, reclusive community worshiping a mysterious god of the hunt. Before long, they find the village’s god imprisoned within their inner sanctum, chained and brutalized to fuel the hunters’ bloodthirsty strength. A second, more daring escape sees all three of them on the road once more, now fugitives from two cults instead of one.

It’s difficult to heal in hiding, but not impossible.
