What do you think Road to Ninja Gaara would be like? And how would he react to RtN Lee?
I’m still really annoyed that he wasn’t in the movie tbh. I, uh, drew a couple designs. I got invested in this idea okay.

Personality wise, he’s not a complete opposite to his actual self.
Actually smiles. He is... not composed at all. Really, he’s an embarrassing mess when it comes to emotions and is terrible at hiding how he feels.
Doesn’t shut up around his friends. You cannot stop this boy from talking when he starts. But then you can’t stop the real Gaara from gushing about Naruto either.

The chunin exams attack never happened, so Rasa is alive and still Kazekage, while Gaara is a Jounin like his siblings.
Look, the only reason I can think of for Minato not being Hokage is that Tsuande must’ve taken the position of the fifth instead of the third coming out of retirement.
Because he’s not Kazekage anymore, I kind of liked the idea of him wearing a more standard sunagakure uniform. If you can’t tell, Gaara’s war uniform was one of my favourites.
Gaara was still born a Jinchūriki.
Naruto didn’t even wish for his RTN counterpart to not be a Jinchūriki which is interesting? But also leads me to believe he wouldn’t desire that for Gaara either. And Sasori is part of the Akatsuki in this world, meaning he still left Sunagakure and probably killed the third Kazekage, putting Rasa in place as the fourth, to of course fuck everything up.
Karura is still alive and his childhood was relatively normal.
So because the movie doesn’t explain why Menma, who had friends and family, decided to succumb to Kurama’s hatred despite that, my only idea is that he and Gaara never bonded over their similar situations, and who else does he have to turn to, to talk about things getting bad? That he so easily captures Yugito also shows a disregard to his fellow Jinchūriki. Who even knows if Kushina was a Jin - who just takes out a tailed beast for fun? Menma really makes no sense, but regardless, Naruto certainly would have wanted Gaara to be happy. Plus I like the idea that both their RTN versions are similar in that regard.
Rasa isn’t a total cunt.
The only thing he cared about was results, at the expense of his wife and children. RTN Rasa would probably be less arrogant? More easygoing?
While the real Rasa thinks he can determine worth (even though he throws gold at people like its nothing) he seemed pretty terrible at it tbh. My personal headcanon is actually that he’s pretty wasteful and extravagant, and so RTN Rasa would actually be the opposite - annoyingly frugal. Also: dad jokes about fool’s gold.
Despite all this, I will still hate him, and any alternative versions of him, forever.
Shukaku was never removed from Gaara.
The Akatsuki is a simply mercenary group in RTN, Sasori is still alive and no one knows who Madara is. Doesn’t seem like there’s a threat to Jinchūriki in this world.
Gaara manages to gain complete control over him and become a perfect Jinchūriki.
Menma does something similar in RTN, which is why he’s so strong. I’ll pass over the fact that he has the stupid nine beasts shit instead of chakra mode etc as movie non-canon stuff.
The last 2 designs were me being pissy that none of the other Jinchūriki have chakra modes, and giving Gaara a cool power up because I don’t care.
He no longer has the automatic defence.
Karura is alive, why would he? I gave him some armour in a few of the designs because I felt bad for him.
Actual Gaara would be a mess without his defence - Karura keeps him too safe that he’s reckless. RTN Gaara is much more careful, he’s used to it.
Yeah... he and Lee are boyfriends.
Even RTN Gaara thinks Lee is kind of weird, considering he’s pretty much the same as his usual self. He’s less bothered by Lee’s eccentricities though.
Of course, when they fight he realizes Lee is actually pretty strong, so you know, respect.
He didn’t crush Lee’s arm and leg in the chunin exams, so RTN Gaara doesn’t feel guilty around him or doubt how much he really trusts him like the real Gaara would for a long time.
