Gurjin and Kovina: Quarantine Style™️

modern au wouldn’t be complete without a hint of real world circumstances, so I’ve spent the day thinking about how they’d hold up with their hoard of children

firstly, Kovina has sacrificed one of her living room walls and has allowed all the kids to just go absolutely ape shit with paint, crayons, pens, you name it - those kids have used it to create some beautiful (but sloppy, according to Gurjin) artwork that Kovina secretly wants to keep forever

Nym has taken it upon himself to be the third parent of the house, the boss of the kids if you will, and has been caught a number of times reminding the others (and by others I mean Ruba and Jorah, Kova is still a baby and has no concept of being alive without assistance from Gurjin and Kovina) of the rules everyday.

“Remember, one exercise a day!! Daddy said we can go for a walk later so we have to stay inside until then!!”

“But my ball is just outside the fence. Can’t I go get it?”

“I’m telling mom!”

*indistinct muttering* “You’re so mean.”

As much as they appreciate Nym’s efforts to enforce the law, the bickering between him and Ruba has increased significantly and in turn, so has the amount of gin and lemonades consumed by both parents after the kids have FINALLY gone to bed at 10 pm

“Hey, do you maybe wanna... slow down on the drinks?”

“Do YOU wanna slow down on the drinks?”

“To be fair, I’m not the one breastfeeding our youngest right now...”

“The third drawer of our freezer is full of frozen breast milk. Please, let me enjoy one more gin before I burst into tears.”

“Ah, right... sorry love, here’s another drink.”

Their daily exercise is taken by the whole family (unless the smallest need a nap, then Gurjin takes the older two and lets them get as much exercise as they need to fall asleep at a reasonable time) and involves Kova wrapped up in his baby sling on Kovina’s chest and being mostly asleep for the whole walk, a spare toddler carrier on Gurjin’s back for when Jorah inevitably gets too tired of walking and needs to be carried back.

Towards the end of the walk you bet your ass both Gurjin and Kovina are lugging back a child and a scooter each as Nym and Ruba decide they no longer want to ride their scooters and want to instead argue about who’s wall art was better all the way home.

Also Bellanji just turning up at their window and banging on it until the kids notice him and the kids collectively losing their fucking minds because “ITS GRANDPA!!!! GRANDPA’S HERE!!! GRANDPA WE HAVEN’T SEEN YOU FOR SO LONG!!!”
