It's been a week since Beth died and I'm not over it because it seemed so pointless. I know this is a Caryl blog and I am a Caryl shipper, but at this point I feel like we are bros and you in general help with WD feels, so, why do you think Beth did what she did, knowing she would probably die? (In my opinion, her sacrifice was not worth her life. Dawn was not that evil.) Whyyy!?!?!? Suicide by Cop? I'm so confused...
No worries, hun! Many of us loved Beth's character dearly and are still reeling from the sudden loss of her character. She was a beautiful ray of hope, much like Judith is. Beth was the hope that things could one day be like they were while Judith is the hope of things that could possibly become.
I am, however, going to place this ungodly long response behind a read more, since some passengers may be a bit weary of hearing about Beth and wish to focus on shipping, which is totally cool. <3
I have mulled over the reasons why Beth would have stabbed Dawn in the shoulder over and over in my head, and for the life of me, I can't really make much sense of it. Did she think Dawn wouldn't react? That she'd just drop to her knees without at least calling for her officers? Stabbing her in the neck would have made more sense logistically, but it would have been OOC for Beth (to me, anyway). I could see Beth wanting to disarm Dawn, to incapacitate her in some way, but... It's been a week and I still can't wrap my head around it.
However, I do disagree with you about Dawn. Anyone who turns a blind eye to rape and actively promotes an environment for the torment (psychological, physical, sexual, whatever) of those being held against their will makes her pretty darned evil in my eyes. Just because she didn't commit the acts herself doesn't make her hands clean. She may have started out with good intentions, but her desperation to keep control over a group of evil cops showed me just how skewed her priorities were.
I don't think Beth was so much suicidal, but I do believe she knew Dawn needed to be taken out. The others didn't know the things she knew, the things Dawn allowed to happen. For all we know, they could have been eyeballing Carol as she laid there silently struggling to survive her injuries. She may have known Dawn had the potential to lead another massacre much like the one The Governor brought to the prison. Dawn could have had her officers follow them to the church (or to Beth, wherever they were camped) and picked them off like fish in a barrel. They would have been just as unprepared for the trained and armed officers as they were the tank.
In a way, Beth's "I get it now" was comparable to Rick's "I get it... shit happens" before he killed Thomas. It had to be done to save the group. No discussion, no committee, no voting. Just one person doing what needed to be done for the protection of the family.
But I still don't understand why Beth stabbed Dawn in the shoulder.
Yikes, this got really long-winded. O_o Sorry about that! I wish I had better answers for you, though. Instead, we're all still sitting here wondering "why." Beth deserves better than that.
I know a lot of people wanted to see a forehead touch. What does it mean to you that he dropped his head to nuzzle the space between her shoulder and neck instead?
I'm as happy as a Winchester eating pie.
If this isn't canon, we're close enough to taste it!
I really respect that you steer the USS Caryl clear of shipping wars and don't get into any of that hate nonsense. It's really no use, just love the ship you love and ship and let ship. You may not be able to 'police' the tag, but you sure can lead by an excellent example. Kudos to you all for taking the high road, may you guide us all there. Shipping with class is what the Goddess MMB wants so we should all be excellent to each other.
The way we see it, this blog isn't about shipping hoo-hoo, it is about Caryl and the TWD and we will always try our best to keep it that way! Thanks, darling!
Everyone has their own special kind of beauty, I’m sure you do too!
Thank you! I'm comfortable with my body and I know that there are looks that I can rock, but I still am envious of those who can carry off the maxi-length and look fantastic. It is a style that does not work well for everyone. I grew up in the 70s (same age as MMB) and that;s when my idea of elegance was formed.
Dear USS Caryl, Being a huge Carol fan, I'm upset by recent spoilers of Carol being hit by a car particularly because my Dad was hit by a car and crippled for life when I was young. He's since past away. When/if it comes to fruition on screen I'd like to imagine the wonderful people of USS Caryl and Carylers being "with me" in that difficult moment. Please share if you support me. Almost asked anon but thought I'd be brave.
I think I can safely say for both my fellow admin on the USS Caryl as well as the ship as a whole, you will have our 100% support, good wishes, warm hugs, and love whenever you need it.
I am sorry to hear about your father. Just know that regardless of what happens in the coming season, we have your back. My personal askbox is always open if you need a shoulder. Remember, you are never alone.
Is there a tag for Caryl songs? I want to make a new edit and I need inspiration.
We have our USS Caryl Playlist tag, or you can simply check out the playlist itself. It surpassed 200 songs, so we had to break it down into playlist one and two. ^_^
Please feel free to reblog this with suggestions, although we're not taking requests for the playlist at this time.
