Someone asks who the most beautiful woman in the world is and Ruby answers Blake without hesitation. It causes some interesting discussion within the team.
“Alright Ruby, pick your poison,” Nora said as she leaned in close. “Truth… or dare?”
Ruby thought for a moment as she looked around at her friends, almost as if she was starting to regret joining them. Of all the things they could’ve chosen to do on a night off, Truth or Dare was how they wanted to spend things instead of going out to explore Atlas. Which made her worry about what Nora was planning. “Truth,” she finally answered.
Nora grinned and pulled back a bit. “Who do you think is the most beautiful woman on Remnant? And no celebrities.”
“Blake,” Ruby answered without hesitation. A blush crossed her cheeks once she realized what she had said. “A-a different Blake. Not our Blake. I know other Blakes.”
“You know you’re a bad liar, right?” Yang half asked with a grin. “Now you’ve gotta tell us what makes her more beautiful than Weiss in your eyes.”
Weiss rolled her eyes. “We dont need to pester her about her bad taste-”
“So liking me is ‘bad taste’?” Blake asked as she cocked a brow.
“N-no, of course not!” Weiss answered, her voice starting to crack. “I-I just mean that… you know, to really appreciate me, one needs a refined palate where as for you-”
“You should stop there before she hurts you,” Yang said as she put a hand on Weiss’s shoulder. “Besides, I’m more interested in why Blake and not Penny. Especially since she’s spent pretty much every waking moment with Penny since we’ve arrived at Atlas.”
Ruby froze as she watched everyone glance at her for an answer. She took a quick look at Blake and took a breath to try to steady her heart. “I-it uh… it was just an answer. No reason behind it.”
“You had that answer without hesitation,” Nora said as she moved in close again. “Now tell us, Ruby Rose, why Blake?”
“Maybe she has a crush on her,” Jaune suggested.
“W-what, no!” Ruby answered just a bit too quickly, the blush across her cheeks starting to darken further. “L-lets just move on-”
“Not until you answer the question,” Yang interrupted.
Blake pinched the bridge of her nose. “She answered the initial question. Let's stop badgering her and move on.”
Ruby stood up and started to make her way to the door. “I-I need to get something to drink. I’ll be right back!” Without another word, she rushed out of the room with her semblance and down the hall until she came to a balcony that overlooked Atlas. She took a few deep breaths, slowly letting each one out as she tried to calm herself.
“Everything alright?” Blake asked.
“W-what are you doing here?” Ruby asked as she quickly turned around. “Shouldnt you be with the others?”
“Probably, but I was worried about you,” Blake answered as she leaned against the bannister. “Atlas sure is pretty at night, isnt it?”
Ruby gave a small nod and turned around and stared out at the city. “I said I’d be back in a few.”
“I know, but I wanted to check on you. Make sure you’re okay after all those questions.”
“I’m doing better now that I’m out of there.” Ruby let out a soft sigh. “I love everyone, but sometimes they can be a bit-”
“Overwhelming?”
Ruby nodded. “Just a bit.”
“I’m sure they didnt mean to be,” Blake re-assured her. “They were just curious is all.”
“Yeah, but I dont… They dont need to know what my feelings are for you. At least, not yet.”
Blake looked at her curiously. “Your feelings for me?”
Ruby could feel her heart nearly stop as she tried to figure out the words she wanted to say. Her fingers gripped the bannister and she looked away. “I… I dont know, I’m still figuring things out. You’re pretty and I like being around you, and I know Penny is just a friend to me, but I… I dont know. Yang says its normal for things to be complicated like this but that doesnt seem to stop her from teasing me.”
“Well, I think you’re pretty too.”
“You do?”
Blake nodded and kissed Ruby’s cheek. “Maybe our next day off, we can spend the day together. Just us.”
Ruby smiled. “I’d like that.”
“I’m going to go back and try to calm everyone down.” Blake pulled away from the balcony and paused for a moment. “Do you still need some time alone?”
“Just a few minutes. I’ll be back once I’m ready.”
Ruby listened to Blake walk off, the blush on her cheeks still a dark red. Once she was sure Blake was out of earshot, she let out another sigh and leaned her head against the bannister. “Gods that sounded stupid. ‘Still figuring things out’... you should’ve just told her you like her.” She took another breath and looked up at the stars, the blush finally starting to fade. “But, at least she seems to like me back. Maybe its not too dumb after all.”
i never got big into rwby and i still blame the fact that my favourite team rwby ship got like no content inside and outside the show
its ladybug
it has so many dynamics that just work cause like girl who cant see her good paired with girl who sees the good, quiet nerd and loud nerd, and most important for me doesn't know how to make friends socially and doesn't know how to make friends emotionally
they just fit so well to me and then there was just fucking nothing
