If you drive a car truck or other wheeled vehicle and you lay on your horn at a pedestrian in a crosswalk where you have just run the light, congratulations; You are an asshole of the highest order.

Nerve-wracking

If you think bicyclists are cry babies, try riding on a two-lane highway (in the bike lane, wearing neon orange) on which the speed limit has just been raised - for no discernible reason - to 65 mph.

That was me a couple of day ago. and I can hardly believe all the drivers of cars and trucks who refused to give me an extra inch of breathing room as they roared past me.

It didn’t matter that there weren’t any vehicles coming in the opposite direction; a surprising number of drivers (although not all of them)  hugged the white line nearest my bike and me.

BMW Drivers Voted The Rudest On The Road

Makes sense.

It’s not even close. By every metric researchers employed, from use of turn signals, allowing merging traffic, speeding, illegal parking....BMWs were the worst across the board.

On Saturday, as I was waiting to parallel park in San Francisco with my signal on because I noticed a car was about to leave, this lady in a BMW behind me laid on her horn and then decided to go around me. In doing so, she also decided to pull up next to me and roll her window down so she could yell at me to “Pull over!” A man standing on the sidewalk, who was watching the whole thing yelled back at her “She’s trying to park!” Good thing he did so because I was about to flip her off and tell her off (I know, I’m not perfect either but I hated the fact that this privileged rich lady in her BMW thought she had the right to yell at me like that because I was in her way. And yes, I’m stereotyping. Hey, maybe she thought this privileged jerk in a Lexus thinks she can stop wherever she wants on the street. It goes both ways). This stranger defending me really warmed my heart and I looked around for him after I parked so that I could thank him but he had already left. 

Kind strangers are out there.
