SIGHS SIGHS RuiMC BAD ENDING THOUGHTS

I had thoughts about Rui being saddled with so much guilt he's losing sleep and skipping meals, spending every waking hour finding a clue to get into the hidden world. MC has mixed feelings but ultimately she doesn't blame him y'know? She's a softie at heart too, she doesn't think she can even confidently say she has the resolve like Rui to take off his gloves and do what he was going to do for her if the situation is reversed. But she also has no mental energy left to reassure anyone else. She's filled with dread with every ticking of the clock.

They run into dead ends after dead ends and it's time for her to go to the containment center. naming it her grave would be more likely. And Rui comes, up in arms, brandishing his scythe with the others, vehemently against sending her to confinement when they still have time. His look of despair and desperation weirdly calms her heart and she's looking at his gloved hands, that he would never offer her for fear of his own curse somehow accidentally touching her. She's seen how tender said pair of hand care for the anomalous plants and she wonders if she turns into a kind-of anomalous plant, would she be able to finally take his hand in hers? Then again, she wouldn't recognize his hands by then, would she?

Something something MC is resigned at her fate but being a confined anomaly for DW sounds so distasteful she'd ask Rui for a kiss of death if only it wouldn't destroy his kind heart. So instead she smiles and say she'll be waiting for good news.
