PROMPTS FROM BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ( Still Accepting! )

The Warrior followed behind the former general, his longer strides able to keep up easily with the quick and prompt fall of her heels as he and Celes wove through the crowd of the ... what was it called? Chii...kawa? Chiikawa Park? Something along the lines of that. While a little far from their usual area of haunts, which a majority was in the Tokyo city district, this particular task they had set about was all the way in Toshima.

It was a bit of a journey, but for this particular task, the trip would be worth it.

For they were looking for a gift for Terra.

Not just any gift, but the perfect gift.

At least, according to Celes.

Celes had specifically chosen the Warrior to come along on this particular endeavor because she stated how the Captain would be less likely to be distracted and wander off due to sheer boredom. While he appreciates the faith she has in his abilities to stay on task, he's not so certain everyone else would agree on the other statements, not that he will name names.

He gives a small apologetic nod towards the mother and her child that he had nearly bumped into, the woman smiling kindly and the child -- no older than seven from his estimates, merely started up at the towering knight, though it didn't bother him too much. He often gets looks of that nature due to his towering stature but it did come in handy when it came to parting crowds, which Celes used to their advantage as the weaved through the character theme park. Her sights set on reaching the end of the park and getting to the real prize -- the merchandise store.

The droll of the "u u wa wa uwa~" in the background of the indoor park made this task feel quite daunting, as the Warrior isn't one for big crowds for long periods of time but if it is for Terra's sake, he will go through hell and high water.

Besides, the little life size statues of the characters were rather adorable, if a little goofy. He supposed that's why they're so popular to constitute their own theme park

Perhaps next time they should merely opt to bring Terra along to this place, maybe Krile and some of the other younger Ghosts would have a grand time here as well. Though he can't help but stifle a chuckle, as he suddenly imagined Kain trying to enjoy this place-- the dragoon would surely stick out like a sore thumb with his serious disposition and broad hat.

'Which one was her favorite? The little fat one?' he hears Celes ask and Light could not help but arch an eyebrow at that --

"I'm afraid that doesn't quite narrow it down much." he replies, though he had a difficult time hiding the chuckle in his voice, which prompted a small glare from the golden haired woman. Despite his amusement, he allowed his eyes to roam about, taking in each of the characters and their features before landing on the pure white one, which he recalled, was the titular character.

"I believe it is that one, with the little pink bag." he points out, motioning with his head towards one of the statues of said character, which Celes studied for a moment and then nodding her head in affirmation before walking again.

After a few more agonizing minutes of walking through the crowd and enduring the attractions and the apparent mascot meet and greet ( the rabbit one got a little too close for his liking but Celes had found it amusing enough to snap a picture of it with her phone ), they finally make it to the shop.

After being informed that there were limits to how much a customer can purchase, it made them all the more determined to pick out one perfect gift for Terra.

The Warrior had been looking through the the rather well made keychains where the little creatures were dressed as...what was it called? Magical girls? While they were indeed cute and something the young esper would enjoy, he personally didn't think they constituted for the perfect gift for Terra, as he and Celes were set on something more grand ( no matter the price ) though he was considering on buying them regardless for Krile, Rinoa and Rikku before he heard Celes' call of --

'Captain! I found it!'.

Shifting his attention away from the keychains, the Warrior did not anticipate suddenly being met with a face full of white fluff, a grunt of surprise even being pulled out of him before he managed to step back and gather his wits. What greeted his eyes was Celes, as proud as a treasure hunter who found the sacred loot, holding up a giant plush of the titular Chiikawa, it's little face adored with a smile and pink blush and on its side is its little pink bag. It nearly swallowed Celes whole but she held it up with pride.

'This is the one!' she exclaims, nodding her head vigorously, the movement causing the plush in her arms to wiggle along with her movements.

It was then that the Warrior finally allowed himself a laugh, warm and amused beyond belief.

"She will love it." for who was he to disagree when the other was so determined to acquire such a monumental find for her dear friend?

After purchasing the giant plush, Celes had given him the task of carrying their spoils, the cashier was doing her best not to giggle as the sterling Warrior had this fat little creature under his arm. No doubt he made for quite the sight.

"Looks like it is time for the journey home my fine and furry friend." Light sighs, patting the stuffy on its giant head as he makes to follow Celes out of the park and to its new home.

"oh, general celes," it had been a long moment since the last she had seen the general. the last time she'd seen her , she was looking for a lost book from the library of the ancients. sarah could still remember that chance encounter as if it were yesterday, and a part of her did long to see the fabled general perform in an opera. "it is nice to see you, again. how fares your efforts in finding lost books?"

   After all’s been said and done truly Locke never thought once that his wandering and adventuring would end up drawing him and Celes as traveling partners, yet here they are. Life sure has its ways of working, he’ll make sure to never forget that life lesson. The world’s still picking itself piece by piece, but progress is made with the joint efforts of just about anybody and everybody who desires to see the world become better than what it was the day before. Them included. He can’t remember the last time he’s been at a Pub and just let loose, indulge in some booze, and just remember what it’s like to be at ease even if it’s just a fluke of the drink, and a temporary paradise for the time being. He’s a little buzzed that’s for sure, he’s grateful for it since most of the time he’s looking for ways to say things to her, things that revolve in the then more than the now, but he’ll leave that for another day for the time being. For now- 

   “Eey, another one!” He calls the attention of one of the waitresses with slurred words. He’s almost done with his share. He sits back when he successfully did get her attention and sighs, trying to relax back against the wooden chair. “Nothin’ beats a couple of drinks after hard work huh?” He beams at her, holding his beer up as if to toast, brings the drink to his lips, gulps up the remainders of his booze, and then sets it back down on the wooden table. He lets out another sigh of satisfaction and pats his chest. Sitting straight he almost misses her words, but he’s thankfully not entirely intoxicated to miss them.

   “... Somethin’ stupid?” He asks. He knows for sure he didn’t mishear her there. There’s no denying that this is Celes, not the general he helped way back when, but... even then it manages to catch him like a deer in headlights. However it’s also mildly unfortunate that he’s buzzing. He narrows his eyes, trying to decipher just what stupid entails exactly. Context clues, context clues—they’re two adults in a Pub, drinking, relaxing, nightfall just around the corner—it hits him like magitek armor taken to scraps. Does she mean?! Suddenly he’s coughing, a mess, and the culprit is nothing more than assumptions taken from her words and what he thinks she means in accordance to their current atmosphere. “I-I’m... sorry!” He apologizes between his small coughing fit and clears his throat. Who’s he to judge really? He’s not blind, Celes is a beautiful woman... he’s known that for a while really, and who knows maybe back when considering her position she only found time for instances of these sorts of things?

   After a pause and careful consideration with his following words, buzzed state in mind, he speaks as honestly and sincere as possible. “Listen, Celes,” he begins, not allowing his eyes to shy away from her own even if the idea of that thought is making him blush a bit, “I-I really appreciate the offer,” he places a gloved hand on his chest to emphasize, “I do.” A silent swear with a nod. “... But I’m not that... type of guy.” He never thought himself nor did he give himself the chance to be. “I’m like a hit it... continue to hit it both physically and emotionally type of guy, you know?” Of course she does, right? Because this is totally what she meant wasn’t it? “H-How about we go do some late night relic huntin’ instead huh? That sounds like a real doozy.”

Aromas from the flowers wafted in the air around the two young women as they lay in the grass. Celes ran a hand through Tifa’s hair, combing through it with her fingers. As she weaved the other woman’s dark tresses into a loose French braid, she couldn’t help but smile - Tifa’s hair was soft as silk and smelled absolutely like heaven.

Oh, how they would both miss this–

“For now, we can.” Celes stopped to ponder for a moment. “Soon, I’m joining SOLDIER. When I come back, Tifa, I will be a better woman. I’ll do my best to protect you.”

Celes rose from the ground, approaching a bush of white roses. This bush was her very childhood - she had helped her mother plant it when she was still very little. Taking a single rose in her hands, Celes returned to Tifa. “That… is my promise to you.” She whispered as she placed the rose in Tifa’s hair, just above her ear.

– moments like these that they wished could go on forever.

SOLDIER, the mighty ShinRa military force...

Tifa nearly muses alound, lips pursing as thoughts scattered like plucked petals taking to the wind beneath them, her thoughts held tightly to such a proclamation- a promise. Their promise made of moonlit serenity and twinkling stars. Though she wants more than anything to smile underlying worry and realization force her to hide silent woes against the arch of Celes’ shoulder where carmaine eyes squeeze tightly shut in effort to chase her uneasiness away.

It was finally happening. Her childhood friend, her Celes was leaving her with nothing more than the sweet scent of flowers carried from their secret getaway spot and the promise of becoming her hero. 

Like... Sephiroth.

Once the rose is placed Tifa can no longer deny herself, a heart forever yearning beneath their Nibelheim sky, arms wrapping around the other’s neck tightly if only to keep here there forevermore. 

“Then, I’ll be waiting! Right here in our spot when you return.”

“Y-you…!” Her cheeks turn crimson at the possibility of who the woman in front of her is. Sarah had gone to Tometown on one of her excursions once - to see an opera that had been the main topic of conversation in Cornelia for weeks. It had been one that she had kept secret from the people in the palace and had traveled to the town on her own. She was confident her abilities as a bard would come in handy. Thankfully she hadn’t needed to use them and the conductor of the train had been happy to escort her from place-to-place. Of course Sarah had done all that traveling only to arrive in Tometown and hear that the opera had been canceled because of an octopus problem. Sadness had washed over her then and the flyer had been the only thing she had taken home.

“Are you… You wouldn’t happen to be the Celes Chere?”

 a request from cid to recover a stolen book had brought the hired sword from the eclipsed region for cornelia , and although neither celes did not think a single book demanded a journey to retrieve it nor did she think she should leave her post , it was her job to protect the library and that meant every book … … that , and cid would go haywire again if she didn’t .  a beleagered sigh escapes the former soldier .  ( that library better still be in one piece when i get back , or else — )  now that celes thinks about it , she wonders how the book was stolen to begin with and why cid didn’t tell her about it sooner and why it was so important .  in any case , all of her questions would hopefully be answered by her milord of cogs and gears once she completed her task .  a woman on a one-track mission , her footsteps only falter at a voice directed at none other than herself .  ❝ — me ? ❞  normally that kind of greeting warranted an accusation or a draw of swords , but the moment the blond espies her surroundings and just who had addressed her , any hostility was long lost ; dressed in finery from head-to-toe , this was no ordinary citizen of by any stretch of means .  approaching the other , celes nods .

    ❝ i am the celes chere . ❞  that sure has a nice ring to it .  ❝ and you are ? ❞

a chance like this could possibly never come again. it was not every day one got to meet the would-be star of an opera that never came to be, however that had not stopped sarah from, already, idolizing the other. some would call her foolish but even so. “i am the princess of cornelia, princess sarah,” would her regal attire be too off-putting for other? perhaps she should have come in her peasant garbs to not be so inconspicuous. however there was no turning back now. she only hoped celes would not treat her any differently than everyone else just because of her status. “but you can call me sarah if you wish.”

while sarah would love to to know the answer to why the opera never came to be, she knew it would be rude of her to not ask if celes needed anything first. “may i inquire as to your visit to cornelia? has something happened with the league of s?”

❝ princess ? ❞  blue eyes alight with recognition .  the princess sarah of cornelia ?  well , that explains the finery .  immediately social decorum falls to the mercenary as she offers the young woman before her a respectful bow ; neither is she citizen or soldier of this kingdom , but she knew when to provide courtesy .  still , at the princess’ behest , celes merely nods .  ❝ if you don’t mind my informality — ❞  perhaps she wished to be treated like everyone else , but for the princess of cornelia to walk around freely without escort or guard … … even so , it is not her place to assume .  this was not her land ; customs may be different here .  nevertheless , although celes wished to learn from where and what achievement sarah might have heard of her , relief flits across her face at her current task at hand .  yes , frivolity could wait ; her mission took precedence .

    ❝ of sorts .  are you familiar with the library of the ancients ?  one of the books went missing , and i was entrusted to return it to its proper place .  my sources tell me that the thief was last seen in this region .  hopefully the book is still in their possession . ❞  if not —— no , she cannot falter on the what ifs and maybes just yet .  cid is counting on her .  ❝ has anything suspicious come to your attention recently , sarah ?  anything at all ? ❞
