This is me status post 13.1 long and hilly miles at the Mount Desert Island Half Marathon in Acadia, Maine in October. . Immediately following this (okay, let's be honest during my training and even during the half itself) I swore off ever doing another half or even running again. The half was hard (okay maybe I didn't train properly) and my legs were sore for days. . But to all you crazy runners who cheered me on and told me I'd want to do another one and I told you you were insane.... . Apparently I drank the kool-aid. 🙈🙊 . My BIG goal for 2019 is to run another half and to beat my MDI time. My plan is to do one in the fall! 🙃 . Any runners suggest any fall halfs in the New England area? Race 3/18. My first trail race!! I love signing up for races that I have zero expertise with and are somewhat underprepared for. I get to enjoy the experience without any expectations. This was so much fun. Super hilly and wicked technical. I was just hoping to get brought it without twisting an ankle but ended up taking 6th overall womenOnly two wipeouts and I can still walk. Guess what I finally made a priority today? ME! Granted, it was only 10 minutes on the treadmill but I feel great and I've never made that much time for me before. Usually, I'm up at 645 am, maybe get a chance to sip my coffee in peace and then it's go, go, go until my head hits the pillow at 10pm. Decided it was beyond time for me to set aside some time for myself and make myself a priority. My recent lab results weren't great and I knew why:. No running. Now I've been lifting, stretching and removing the bad food from my diet like a crazy woman, but there is little that can replace the healing properties of a good run. So, I laced up my @brooksrunning sneakers, cranked up #ledzeppelin and ran as fast as I could handle for 10 minutes blocking out the craziness in the process. I feel like a different woman!
