Therapy sessions are becoming athletic!
Your psychologist may arrive at your next session lacing up their sneakers. Because “running therapy” is the latest mental health trend. It makes a lot of sense, especially for men, who tend to keep their emotions locked inside. And symptoms of depression often appear as irritability or aggressiveness. Plus, it can be hard for men to sit and discuss their feelings. Eye contact is also an issue. The male brain reads it as a challenge, and it can make men combative. So, walking or jogging side-by-side makes a lot of sense. It makes patients feel like they’re in sync with their therapist and allows them to open up.

I'm doing running therapy atm and we measure how my mood and stress etc is doing before and after the run using a visual graph but sometimes I have to send my pyschologist how I'm feeling by text which has resulted in this gem
Benefits to to using stats to measure how you're doing:
You can track multiple feelings/emotions
You can see how you're feeling in long term and see what is helping and what isn't
You feel like an RPG character and you can pretend that getting better is just "leveling up"

I take the tools applied in the office and attach them to running," explains Saremi, whose work tends to attract high-achieving individuals who often struggle to commit to traditional talk therapy—or just sitting still for an extended period of time.“
