rus and aus spies “au” (not really an au).

made this as a gift for my best friend, it’s based on her brainrotting about russia and austria being spies together in the cold war and writing a beautiful one-shot for me. i love her a lot

Hear me out... Rusaus? (Russia x Austria) The one panel where it all but says Roderich has make an 'alliance' with France and Russia in a specific way, not to mention

"In the hope of Russian military support, the young Emperor Franz Joseph kissed the hands of the Ruler of all the Russians in Warsaw on 21 May 1849"

so you're telling me Roderich kissing Ivan's hand to emulate that whole bit because emperor franz joseph of all the previous emperors being the one to do this isn't surprising ngl

he's one of the more pragmatic rulers in my opinion but anyway

smth smth abt Roderich demonstrating this would be crazy manipulative in that tone of compliance for control

iirc gaining the russian support was what helped the austrian empire abate the hungarian revolts and this became the culmination of their eventual involvement in the crimean war because russia demanded they return the favour for the help with suppressing the revolution, in turn they should totally support the russians in their battle against the ottoman empire

and wouldn't you know it austria remained relatively neutral until the threat of the balkan countries being overrun had them side wITH THE OTTOMANS !!! they defended the danubian principalities and ensured bulgaria wouldn't be under threat of russian invasion

I know this right on the tail of my PruAus Week interest poll, but since @fafayayarhen and I were talking about it, how would folks feel about doing a general 'Austria Week' this fall (likely on the week of his birthday)? It would be open to any ships, or lack thereof; just a general week for Austria-related content.

For those following along PruAus Week stuff, I'm likely thinking that for early next year (around Prussia's birthday?). Would that be stretching folks too thin to have both events?
