Poets Andrei Voznesensky & Michael McClure, Chelsea Hotel, May 1991. Andrei, who commonly read to sold out stadiums in Russia, first met Allen in Moscow, 1965 (see Iron Curtain Journals) and the two remained close friends ever since. While Allen and McClure first met while organizing and performing at the 6 Gallery reading in San Francisco, 1955, the night which essentially launched both their careers as poets. McClure is Ike O'Shay in Kerouac’s Dharma Bums, Pat McLear in Big Sur, and was the poetry mentor to Jim Morrison.
