okay yay long time no fanfic fanart :) this one's for syncing ship by nobody & rux (their art master post is here) !

my gut reaction is to say that i feel this one's really one you just have to experience for yourself, which is really such a useless thing to say as a recommendation, so instead i will say i really enjoyed the premise and found the story/character arcs satisfying. plus rux did some shit with the art that had me laying my face down on the table and making strange and concerning noises (<- compelling endorsement...?)

i had drawn the whole thing so i could finangle the crop after so i figured id include it but its like. all the important stuff is in the crop i think so w/e

and an alt composition bc i was conflicted on whether or not the petals broke the balance...

i still donno. in some ways i like the balance of the one i posted more, but in other ways, i think the framing is more effective here...? maybe ill have different feelings when i wake up tomorrow, i've been up a while. worried ill wake up tomorrow and want to change a million things so we're preempting this by just yoloposting now ... tehe

What’s your favorite headcanon you use in fics?

Hmmm, I don’t feel like I have used a lot of very specific headcanons in my fics so far. I have some headcanons about Hakuba’s backstory I might include in later stories 🤔

Does me writing Hakuba as a bit detective lit nerd count as a headcanon? I mean, he is canonically a Holmes enthusiast for sure, haha but I like sneaking different references and quotes through him

What’s a fanfic idea you haven’t done yet?

...I have a massive ongoing list of these 🤦‍♂️ My writing stamina is very low so the likelihood of me finishing these within the next century isn’t very likely so here’s a couple

Kaito taking care of an injured Hakuba

Also known as Raffles projecting their misfortune into Hakukai thoughts, the fic ™️

So, I got injured during the last week of 2020 and I had to keep my eyes mostly closed and covered for a couple of weeks while they were healing up. My close friends read Hakukai fics to me out loud to help me pass the time so I ended up going...Wow, what if I put Hakuba in this situation! Wouldn’t that be real fun! 

It’s basically about Hakuba getting hurt when a glass ceiling shatters over him at a heist and it takes some time to recover. Kaito feels guilty about him getting hurt and doesn’t want to leave him alone but being them as himself would look to suspicious (and it’d be embarrassing!) so he keeps visiting Hakuba using different disguises (Aoko, Akako, Keiko so on...) and just sticking around to keep company (talk to him, read to him, listen to stuff with him) But because Hakuba can’t actually see he starts getting lazy and stops using the disguises and only mimics their voices...

I have a full outline for this but the resolution involves a kiss scene and writing those is embarrassing for me so uh...maybe it’ll continue living rent free in my WIP doc?

Ekoda Play

This is just an excuse for Ekoda shenanigans!!! I love Ekoda shenanigans!!! I love their single braincell!!! It’s Hakukai and Aokako with Kaito & Aoko solidarity + Hakuba & Akako developing friendship. 

So 2B is putting up a play and Akako and Hakuba get nominated to play the leads because they’re so popular and well liked. They’re charming and good looking so it’s widely agreed that a play starring them is bound to go great.

Akako thrives on the attention and Hakuba figures it’s not a bad idea to get a bit more involved with school life every now and again (it could be enjoyable!) so they agree to do it and practice together and whatnot.

Kaito and Aoko are not jealous, what are you talking about, they would NEVER. (They most certainly are) and proceed to cause trouble behind the scenes.

Keiko is here to witness chaos unfold.

It’s another story about the four of them running around because I love thinking about them in scenarios where they do just that. 

Lettuce Heist

Lettuce Heist!!! There’s a real gem...or well, more like a jeweled object with a history I find to be really interesting and think would be really fun to include in a KID heist. I don’t want to say what it is exactly so I’m referring to it as the Lettuce (this makes sense in context, I swear)

This is more of a gen fic than a shippy fic (So far in my outline, at least) but it follows Hakuba’s thought process as he breaks down KID’s methods and trick for the heist. I wrote one with Kaito watching Hakuba scheme during a heist so I feel  like I should opposite as well, haha. An excuse for me to write small mysteries because I love writing those!

B, H, L for fandom meme please

B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind

I lived in a nice and happy world until I saw this Makoto x Kaito comic... and now I need more of that dynamic, but it’s so hard to find content I cry. (this is one of my pairings that brain don’t wanna create, just wanna consume, so I can’t even feed myself because brain is being unhelpful)

Alternatively, two friends ship Hakuba x Shiho and... they actually fit well together? Potentially. As they never interacted in canon. But certainly there is potential in there and I’m curious about the pairing. :D

Actually, considering that after I first watched MK (and the few DC episodes I watched at the time) I didn’t have any ship in particular and was looking into fics for gen content, a good part of my DCMK ships fall into this category. KaiShin is one for sure and it somehow became one of my comfort ships nowadays.

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., tv shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)

For DCMK, if I wanna source something, I just look into the thing in the manga.

I can only read translations and not the original text, so I like seeing analysis of people who can understand the original text and what they have to say about things. Some tumblr users do that and I really appreciate them. :D (I like to source character analysis that people write as well together with the manga! Other people explain things way better than I can hope to achieve.)

The Detective Conan World Wiki is also nice to quickly check facts, although I wouldn’t use it as a source and more as a tool to find where I should look to check what I wanna check (Imagine searching 1000+ DC chapters otherwise)

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)

I don’t like Gin...

But boy, does he have one of the best DCMK hairs? Absolutely. I can imagine him in a L’Oréal commercial with wind in his hair being completely fabulous and stealing all the spotlight. It’s a delight to draw it. If brain could focus on something not MK/Kaito-related, I would certainly draw more of this scary guy for his fabulous hair alone.

(Drawing scary bad guy expressions is fun as well, and Gin can combo fabulous hair with fun expressions. 11/10 character to draw)

*pops in* because I also really like shiho/ai, when there are suspicions of shiho being alive, do you think saguru will try to get on the case as well? Esp for the bell-tree express case (where he might try to warn Kaito to stay away from it?) Does he know about Conan as well and approach him as someone who thinks that he has the potential to take down the org as well or is he staying away because that's Vermouth's territory?

If the suspicions that Shiho is alive reach him, he feels rather sick over the whole thing. If she’s alive, he’d like it to stay that way. She doesn’t trust him much anymore (his loyalty act is very convincing, and he tends to seem to align with Gin, and she REALLY doesn’t trust Gin, so she sort of...mourns him as someone the syndicate destroyed, and they’ve grown apart). All that said, what I’m getting at is he definitely doesn’t want to actually interact with her, if he does find out she’s alive, because he doesn’t want to scare her. And anyway, he’s afraid that if he finds her, so will the rest of the organization.

That said, his not digging too deeply into the situation of his own accord doesn’t mean he doesn’t get pulled into it. The organization wants to know if there’s anything he’s not telling them, for example.

Plus, with the bell-tree express, they think he might be a good way to surprise her or bait her out, so they’d definitely include him along. It’s also kind of a test to make sure his loyalty to the organization really does win out - but it’s seen as a pretty easy test since at this point he’s seen at being loyal without a shadow of doubt.

He likely implied to Kaito that he needs to avoid the Bell Tree Express but I think Kaito probably went anyway, to Saguru’s chagrin. And he had no idea that it was Kaito disguising as Shiho, so let me tell you, when he saw her on the train.. and then the subsequent explosion... ha. (and then later he sees Kaito and Kaito tells him about what happened and Saguru sort of reverse speedruns the five stages of grief and then gets upset at Kaito for almost getting himself blown up. it’s a rough one.)

As for Conan, once Conan does register as a blip on his radar he’s kind of. freaked out. He finds Conan to be someone the syndicate would be very interested in having (he would know :’) ). He doesn’t go out of his way to approach Conan for this reason. Learning that Vermouth has stake in that territory only alarms him more. She has her own agendas but he doesn’t remotely trust her.

That said, Conan and he will get acquainted - either through KID heists, through Kaito maybe introducing him to Ai, or through something else. It’s! fun.

It's not awkward at all, I love to talk about my OCs, and I'm very flattered that you want to know more about them 😭

Sol is my oldest OC that I still actively use! She was originally created in 2010 and has changed a lot since, but I love her very much and she has a special place in my heart.

On the left is one of the first drawings I ever made of her back in 2010, on the right is her most recent(ish) look, drawn in 2019.

(Time is an illusion)

Personality wise...I guess the best to describe her would be "intense," haha. She feels emotions very strongly, tends to be quite impulsive, and has explosive reactions that often get her into trouble. Being incredibly shameless, she'll do and say whatever she feels like doing at any given time...regardless of how appropriate it may be. As such, she tends to carry herself in a very vulgar and blunt manner, sparing no effort on formalities. Of course, that means she comes across as stubborn and uncompromising (and she is). This makes her pretty difficult to deal with.

She likes picking up fights, really.

In spite of that, she's also kindhearted and nurturing at her core. The type of person who will strike conversation with just about anyone and treat them like a lifelong friend within a couple of hours. She likes making others feel welcome and at home because it's something she has lacked herself. A very "Chaotic Good" sort of character.

She's English-Colombian, born to a Colombian mother and an English father, but she spends most of her life in Colombia (moving between San Andrés and Cartagena) and doesn't have any real contact with her father until adulthood. Growing up, she dreams of becoming a pilot and traveling the world. Because of a tricky situation she gets herself in, she has to move abruptly to London with her father during her mid 20s.

When she moves, she only has two contacts in England; one being her father, and the other being the attorney that has been providing legal counsel to her and her mum. Because she's presumptuous beyond repair, one thing leads to another and she ends crashing into her attorney's life and freeloading at his office.

That's where my other two major OCs come in!

Alistair (blond) is Sol's long-suffering attorney, and Evie (white haired) is a childhood acquaintance of his, as well as his current client.

The main story they're in is (unsurprisingly) a mystery that follows Alistair's investigation into the serialised publication of a detective story that seems to be predicting/causing/affecting real life events every time a part is published. It's all completely self-indulgent nonsense that lives in my head, to be honest 😂 But I have a lot of fun with them.

I don't know if anyone's actually interested in hearing about Alistair or Evie or any of my other OCs, but I do have a little masterlist of sorts in case anyone wants to see all of the most active ones I have!
