one big thing i love about how the scions in general are written in the starcrossed series is like -- their actions are so motivated by what they have grown up knowing (the cycles and the cruelty of the fates etc) but, if you don’t take that into account, it can be really easy to misunderstand why they do stuff

jason acting hot/cold with claire, for example -- it seems like he’s being a jerk........until you remember that his two primary examples of a scion/mortal relationship are his happily married uncle and aunt...........and his widowed father. both possibilities of how things could turn out are right there and he’s left constantly wondering ‘maybe claire and i will be happy like castor and noel............or maybe i’ll just get her killed like my dad with my mom’ 

heck, it’s clear that this has impacted ariadne and hector, too! ariadne adamantly refuses to make a move with matt for so long because she’s trying so hard to keep him from being directly involved (which, ironically, ends up being completely pointless) while hector doesn't go for anything beyond hookups until andy -- who’s both half siren and the reincarnation of his wife.

growing up a scion would be Very Different than a normal life, and it’s really cool that this is shown in how the characters who grew up that way act

I've always thought that was the lamest argument -- that we need some people to be poor in order to remind the rest of us to be grateful. All that really means is that someone has to suffer poverty so other people can feel better about themselves. What a selfish way to look at the world.

a normal world starcrossed au where lucas meets helen at a family reunion and they really hit it off and she’s super pretty and super nice and just amazing in general but like..............they are at a family reunion............and so he’s internally freaked out about that the whole time they’re talking

after a while he finally points out the fact that like. they’re at a family reunion. and helen explains that her mom recently reconnected w/ her high school sweetheart, lucas’s uncle ajax, who she had this whole forbidden love thing w/ bc their families didn’t get along at all and that ajax invited them bc he wanted them to get to know his family

and lucas is like ‘oh thank god i can ask you on a date’
