Okay, so, I get that a lot of design choices in RWBY are for Rule of Cool rather than practicality — it’s why Coco fights in stilettos — and unlike in most series it actually makes a little sense! Because RWBY baked into Remnant’s history an excellent reason why the characters would dress for aesthetic over practicality: self-expression is a key cultural value.

But even if the Doylist explanation for why Pyrrha wears greaves — and no other significant armor — despite how well it meshes with her semblance is…probably just that it looked cool…

…there is a Watsonian explanation, beyond self-expression. Since Pyrrha’s already got a bracer and her weapons on her arms, she’s got metal she can use to move her own limbs at higher speeds or with more mobility. Add in the greaves, and she can use Polarity to reorient her legs when she’s off the ground too.

Pyrrha set herself up to levitate and never got to show it off.

Blue Bonnet or Double B has Auger the combination Lance & Rocker Launcher

Lily doesn’t come from much so her weapons are two handmade Tonfa and Boomstick on old hunting rifle.

Sakura once again has a more classic weapon Izanagi a Naginata (a kind of glaive) that can also function as a semiautomatic rifle.

Maggie is unfortunately even worse of than Lily and her weapon is Stick!

I’ve named dropped Maggie & Lily’s final weapons before (Foe Finder and Phoenix Rapture respectively) but any more details on them will remain a mystery for now until they acquire them in story.

Sometimes I forget that pretty much every huntsman designs and forges their own weapons. Like man… thats so cool????

Ruby was what? 15 when the show started? She said she had two more years left at Signal, and she was extremely well adapted to Crescent Rose, so she probably had been practicing for years already, and assuming that Signal is a four year school, she probably made Crescent Rose at the age of 13.

Learning to fight with a giant scythe as a young girl who still had so much physical growing to do is one thing I could go on about for ages, but designing all the mechanics of said scythe and forging it yourself??? As a 13 year-old????? Ozpin literally said it was one of the most dangerous weapons ever created???? What the heck???

I guess every huntsman is just born as a genius.

The one in the middle. With no scope. Also kinda the one of the side.

There is a retractable scope. There is also a trigger and a munition thingy in the staff part.

So it's a one-sided blade at the end of the staff with a sniper barrel on the stump side, imagine the blade a bit shorter. I want the staff part to be a bit more.

No idea if it makes sense.
