Annapurna /ˌanəˈpəːnə/ According to the Oxford English Dictionary, "A ridge of the Himalayas, in north central Nepal. Its highest peak rises to 8,078 m (26,503 ft)." Yes, it's that but it also more to me. This photo was taken earlier, on the return flight from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu, and it captures this trip's theme for me. Before that, here's a snippet of my thoughts about this trip while waiting for my flight at Tribhuvan International Airport. Amongst other short rides from place to place, I've taken 4 flights, 4 long bus rides and 2 motorbike rides and I'm not even done. It's the return leg of the journey, but I still have 2 more flights before I reach Singapore soil: Kathmandu to Dhaka, followed by a 3-hour layover, and then finally back to Singapore. Thinking about it, this trip takes me away for about 9 days and 5 of it is spent travelling. I'll arrive back at around 5am, then it's off to work after breakfast, a shower and a change of clothes. Nonetheless, I'm extremely thankful. Who would have thought I'd be invited to speak abroad in the first place? Furthermore, God has been faithful and this trip has been fruitful. Which brings me back to the photo. As I took various modes of transportation up, through and over the mountains, the following lyrics kept coming to mind: "Over the mountains and the seas Your river runs with love for me" The people I met and the time spent with them thinking about God made it worthwhile. I experienced gracious hosts and warm hospitality, saw firsthand the beauty of creation, and was constantly reminded of God's goodness to his people and his presence to all who seek. Maybe I'll make a short video of my trip if I can find the time. Regardless, dhanyabaad, Nepal! God willing, I'll be back again. Perhaps to trek a trail or scale one of the shorter summits (can't afford much else).
