Project 27: Self-Portrait

For this prompt, I decided to dust of my camera. Most of the time when I have my camera I am taking photos of others; I never seem to turn the camera around and take photos of myself  (minus the ones I take with my selfie stick.) Had a fun time messing around with some new post production techniques and learning Adobe Lightroom. Enjoy!

Project 26: National Park Badge Huntin’ Y’all!

For this project, I decided to create badges inspired from key stops along my relocation to California. I really wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone for this one - so I decided to illustrate all of the badges by hand. It was really nice to pull out my dusty Wacom tablet and put it to good use. The organic style for the type was inspired by the common wavy roads we took and spur of the moment planning. Hope you enjoy!

Project 19: Free For All

For this project, I decided to brand my family's home brewery.

In the past I have created branding with the focus only being on the visual design. So for this project I wanted to focus on branding theory and personality then have that inform the visual design. The brand attributes above were created to guide the brand as a whole. Brownhill Brewery as a brand would act as an educator, teaching the customers about the brownhill heritage, and its beer. The overarching visual theme was heritage.

The brand would consist of a variety of systems. I created one system for this project - the pattern system. The pattern informs the customer of the ingredients within the beer as well as informing them the ideal drinking glass. I had such a blast learning and creating my first repeat pattern.

Comotion 2011 Titles

CoMotion 2011 is a student led Motion Graphic Symposium at SCAD consisting of portfolio reviews, panel discussions and student showcase.

Their direction was aimed at showing CoMotion as an outlet for SCAD students to network, get connected and grow into the industry. 

Especially considering the fact that they were made in the span of 5 days, I would have to say that these were brilliantly done. The animation all around is smooth, it takes the viewer on a journey with the keyframe, and it is overall just visually pleasing. The attention to detail is impressive, and the sound design matches everything perfectly. Look out for these gentlemen in the (near) future.
