Probably an unnecessary note (if you ever came across any of my posts), but I don't think Aziraphale made a mistake in leaving at the end of S2 etc. He left for Crowley. And the Universe. Because ultimately, there is nowhere to run to for them unfortunately; they can only try their best at changing things. And the chaotic nature of the Universe helps!

In the middle of a critical confrontation, Crowley comes to the realization that something's very wrong with the timeline. Who's messing about with their lives?

“Can you – keep it stopped that long?” Aziraphale gestured at the grandfather clock, whose face projected a distinctly peevish demeanor, like anyone who’s been suddenly told to suspend normal operations indefinitely.

“Long enough. It’s going to be close by. Right in this shop, if I’m not mistaken. You’ve got all sorts of little crannies and warrens in here –”

“Oh, I’m always finding them. I honestly couldn’t catalogue them all. There’s the storage in what used to be the coal cellar, and the back room behind the back room, and the telescoping wardrobe, and –”

“ – this door’s got a feel about it – like someone used a keep-out spell, or something like what we did to keep people from clocking Jimmybollocks – let’s put some mojo on it –”

“Both of us at once, shoulders forward.”
