there is something to be said that is truly remarkable about the doctor - they were used as an experiment as a child, with seemingly little regard for their safety and comfort, forced to regenerate over and over again and despite not remembering this, despite not knowing this happened, it stuck with them enough that despite anything else, they will help a crying child
