Sasuke’s brows crinkled, breaking up the dazed expression on his face. His mind fluttered back to the present moment as his eyes shifted to their corners, gaze flickering from the sole window in his room to the door. He knew moments before the door was unlocked that someone was coming.

He shifted, the chains clasped to his ankles clinking as he moved out of the way of the beams of sunlight shining through the window, finding comfort in the shadows of the corner his bed occupied. While the sunlight could light up the room sufficiently enough, there still remained dark corners to hide in.

He might have sensed the visitor sooner had the chakra-draining chains not made him so mentally and physically exhausted all the damn time. But that was the point, wasn’t it? He was a prisoner, after all. As pretty as they tried to make his stay here look, that’s what it boiled down to.

He leaned back against the wall and extended his legs so that only his bare feet and chain-clad ankles were fully illuminated by the sunlight. He watched the door intently as it opened for his visitor to enter.

“No?” Shinki replied, surprised at his father’s answer. He stood in the kazakage’s office, front of the mans desk. Araya and Yodo had gotten invited to go to the land of waves for a weekend with other shinobi their age. They had invited Shinki along to go with them, too.Though the ocean itself didn’t seem that appealing to him, Shinki thought spending a weekend with his friends doing things other than missions or reports or just sitting around sounded like fun. Truth be told he was looking forward to it….until he got his answer from Gaara. “What do you mean no?”

“Can you not break someone’s leg this time?”  The pale shinobi gave a meek smile, trying to make his request seem more lighthearted even though he really hoped that there would be no more bones breaking this time.  Hayate had to deal with medics enough for his own health, let alone having to get them for an injured comrade.
