Growing up I was, and still am, a huge star trek nerd.  I thought Captain Kirk, watching the original star trek movies, was infallible and a great person in the real world.

In the mid/late 90′s this popped up on the internet and that was around the time I started to hear that Shatner had a bit of an attitude on set/during recordings back during the original airing of Star Trek.  I was pretty shocked to hear “Captain Kirk” say something like that to someone.

You also have to keep an open mind though too.  Maybe during this sound bite he was having a rough day; it’s hard to say really.  This short snippet could have been modified to make him sound like he’s more harsh than he actually is (who knows what the original recording length was).

Even if the stories were true I think he mellowed out with age and is still a great person/actor.  Just thought I’d share an interesting bit of recording V/O history.

Ok I give up

So I am about to enter week 7 of the Slow Carb Diet. The first three weeks I was strict and followed it to a tee. Then we had my MIL come for an 11 day visit and from then on I’ve been slowly cheating more and more.

In the beginning I would say, “If I’m gonna cheat it’s gonna be worth it!” But slowly it became a bite of pb&j here, a couple of my son’s goldfish there, then full blown bowl of Cheerios cereal! And then hell, I’ve already cheated so I will just go ahead and make some nachos too.

What.is.my.problem??

Then I look at the scale and “oh darn! I didn’t lose or it only went down a little” Well of course ya dummy!!!

So today is cheat day and I feel horrible. Walking into a shopping store today I could literally feel my belly jiggling. I had to remind myself that I ran 6 miles yesterday. Now, I must tell you that I am at the beginning of PMS and all you ladies know how that can screw with your body, but…come on. I know it’s also because I have been cheating on my diet.

So I give up.

Not on my diet though. I hadn’t felt that good or that confident in years! No I’m giving up on sabotaging myself. I’m giving up and giving in to this process.

Back at it full force tomorrow!!
