The bright white orbs within the sentry’s skull flickered in and out for a moment as he took half a step back in surprise when the silhouette of shadows reached out for him. It had appeared in front of him so suddenly that it had caught him completely off guard, abruptly throwing its intangible limbs toward him. Instinctively, he threw a forearm over his face in defense, freezing all motions when he felt something drop onto the top of his skull. Pulling his arm down, he peered out towards the silhouette that just stood there passively, its form leaning off to the side almost coyly. “Wha-” A curious tilt of his head made the crown of flowers drop onto the blanketed forest floor. His gaze flicked down to the arrangement and back at the Shade with a growing suspicion. Slowly, the sentinel dropped to his knees, all the while keeping his sights trained on the Shade with distrust. Picking up the flower crown, he stood back to his full height just as slowly as he kneeled down, looking over at the stranger with an inquisitive look. It was just a normal circlet of flowers with a variant of orange and violet popping out in between small white bunches. The sentry found the arrangement rather odd in color scheme but beautiful nonetheless, gingerly curling gloved fingers around its petals. “I don’t recognize these florae... Did you bring this over from wherever you guys keep coming from?” Sans couldn’t decide whether or not to be impressed or concerned that this particular Shade was strong enough to pick up items, much less bring them over from whatever plane of existence they came from. Regaining his composure, he let out a low chuckle, entertaining the Shade as he placed its gift over his skull. The Shade spoke to him but its voice came out like they all did, as intangible and incomprehensible as their forms. He could only guess what it was trying to say. “I don’t think these are my color but, uh, thank you anywa-” He dragged out the last syllable of his sentence, gaping as the Shade slowly lost its shadow-covered form, its words becoming more coherent and easily heard. The sentinel could only bring himself to tilt his head once more, curious and stunned.
