Bartholomew Butter Part 2
I made Bartholomew Butter (with a little assistance from Mother Mary as well) on his feast day and brought it up to Mom’s today to finish it up into some aesthetic little pats. The decoration from Mom’s antique butter molds made it even prettier—as well as giving some additional strength and luck with oak and shamrock 🍀 symbolism.
Before I got up to the house Mom had already soaked the butter molds in an ice bath for an hour or two. I set my butter out for half an hour or so to let it get to room temperature. Still firm, but soft enough to handle.
I sprayed the inside of the molds with vegetable oil, and then wiped softly with a paper towel so it wasn’t too thick a layer. Then I firmly pressed the butter into the mold.
I added the butter-filled molds back into the ice bath for ten minutes, and then pushed the butter out just like a push-up pop from an ice cream truck. I then gently detached the butter from the mold.
It probably would have looked better with plain butter rather than herb butter, but oh well! 🤷♀️
I was very happy with it for my first attempt!
I have made cookies before with mom’s antique wooden cookie molds, but we had never used the butter molds.
