July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

June is widely known among Catholics as the Month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, one of the Church's most beloved devotions. But did you know that every month of the year is dedicated to a particular devotion? Each one invites us to contemplate a different mystery of our faith and grow closer to Our Lord, Our Lady, and the saints through the rich spiritual traditions of the Church. Throughout the month of July, the Catholic Church invites the faithful to honor the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This devotion reminds us of the immense price of our redemption: every drop of Christ's Blood was shed out of love for us, for the forgiveness of our sins, and for the salvation of the world.

How did this devotion begin?

The dedication of July to the Precious Blood dates back to the 19th century and was later extended to the universal Church by Pope Pius IX. The devotion was further encouraged by Pope John XXIII, who urged the faithful to meditate on the infinite value of Christ's Blood and its power to cleanse, heal, and reconcile souls to God.

What Should We Do During This Month?

-> Meditate on the Passion of Christ, reflecting on the love He showed by shedding His Precious Blood for us.

-> Pray the Litany of the Most Precious Blood or other prayers honoring the Precious Blood of Jesus.

-> Read the Passion narratives (Matthew 26–27, Mark 14–15, Luke 22–23, or John 18–19) and meditate on them prayerfully.

-> Attend Holy Mass and receive the Eucharist with gratitude, remembering that Christ is truly present in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

-> Go to Confession, trusting in the mercy won for us through Christ's Precious Blood.

-> Offer acts of reparation for sins against God and pray for the conversion of sinners.

-> Pray the Rosary, asking Our Lady to lead you ever closer to her Son and to the saving power of His Precious Blood.

As we enter this month,

let us thank Our Lord for the sacrifice He made for us, approach the Sacraments with renewed devotion, pray for the conversion of sinners, and entrust ourselves to the saving power of His Most Precious Blood.
