Postman Apocalypse
Much of the post-Ratmas chatter in the Failbetter office today has been around Postman Apocalypse, a Twine game made by the incomparable mind of saint-arthur (aka Fallen London player Spacemarine9).

the hats and gloves stay alive too! i've always thought exceptional hats + avid gloves and all that at least use materials from polythreme coz' it'd at least make sense, even though i don't think it says that anywhere. lenguals are both alive + from polythreme for definite, at least

I'm gonna guess and say that things "born" within The Hundred's range, or things that Clay Men have done The Gross Thing to stay animate, but otherwise, its all harmless in the end. SOLVED IT
The only thing I can guess at which the Owls might represent are humans; but like all there is to go off of there is that the Owls are "Things that interact with the Bazaar which get eaten by a Thing which might be the Vake or something else entirely". i'm not entirely fond of that interpretation at all but it's the best guess I've got with the information at hand, given that the Owls are mentioned like twice total from what we've seen of the seventh letter

and it seems like that is definitely the best interpretation. as far as I can tell too, there's only two mentions: the seventh letter and the order inscription. technically, the owl mask was the mask you wore to receive sins of curiosity during hallowmas too, i guess? but yeah, the owl's most notable feature seems to be them lamenting being preyed on by the vake, and well, thats us.
If you've lost the Forger's connection to a Painting Disaster, none of the other options are really all that great unless you're after connections/Counting the Days. You can also get into drunk fights with the Regretful Soldier if you have <100 dangerous. You can also bang the sardonic music hall singer for a ton of romantic notions (or occasionally lose a ton of acquaintance points) but that requires contaminating your deck with the sardonic music hall singer
a Painting Disaster is a good way of putting it. there was a disaster, which involved painting. we split on amicable terms, obviously.
i've done the drunk fight thing but it seems to reset my acquaintance to 1. i also boned the sardonic music hall singer and it did the same thing. so balls, i guess :c
