kinda off-topic (ish?) but i *just* remembered that mondo thinks of kaito as a "younger brother" according to the utpd event with shuichi and mondo,,,that's interesting considering his backstory
one thing about Mondo is that when Daiya died, he became the older-brother figure to a gang of over 100+ members. He mentions how taking care of his gang is the most important thing to him, to the point he loses sleep just to be there for them when they need him (mentioned in one of his and Taka's UTDP interactions). Plus in one of Mondo’s bday tweets, he spent his birthday hunting down a guy that beat up one of his own so he can kick their ass.
Mondo even told Makoto that he made sure that none of his guys lose the opportunity to go to college, at the expense that he knows he won't be able to do so himself.
One of my favorite traits about Mondo is how responsible he is. It might not be in the traditional way like Kiyotaka, but the dedication he has to his gang and making sure he was as good an older brother figure to them as Daiya was for him is rlly admirable, even if Mondo doesnt give himself nearly enough credit for it.
So Mondo's tendency to look at those like an older brother would, even outside of a gang setting, makes a lot of sense! Especially towards those like Kaito, who has a considerably optimistic perspective on the future compared to Mondo, whose personal experiences made him more nihilistic about his future prospects. I like their dynamic a lot alkfdjjkl
