“What are you even doing?” Jôno asked when Dazai slid his head down a little, so it would be resting over his chest instead of shoulder.
As if it wasn’t obvious already.
“Well, since mere mortals can’t usually hear heartbeats without assistance, I’m doing what I have to so I can listen to yours. Which you know, so why get all rhetorical right now?” Dazai then shrugged; the motion was unmistakable.
“You can control your own heartbeat to the point of sending messages with it and still talk about ‘mere mortals’? Really?” Was Jôno’s answer, positioning his arms in a way that would make most people wonder if he was about to pull Dazai closer or proceed to kick him out. Though Dazai himself would likely see it coming, something he couldn’t say bothered him much in that specific moment.
They could stay like that for a little more before going separate ways, and likely not speak about that one time ever again. It would be easier.
