happy new year!! some maedhros pieces for practice since im still getting used to clip studio paint 🙂‍↕️ i really should be drawing the 100000 other characters in the legendarium but something something a spot cannot change its leopards or something....

early in december i found out you could record timelapses in clip studio so i was super curious...

the bg is different from in the finished product + his scars are missing cause i did the final touchups in SAI ^^ (im blindly stumbling my way thru CSP but ill get there!! one day!!)

merry christmas!!!🎄 ive been a bit busy so i couldnt finish up my regular pieces for my usual saturday post last week, but figured it was a good time to quickly put together a christmas piece since i usually miss the timing for festive stuff haha. this is a continuation of this piece from 2022 - it's not so much a redraw but more like another feanorian family photo, taken 4 years later :D (nerdanel toned down on the ugly sweaters after giving birth to the ambarussa + fingon is finally allowed to join in the photo bc he's finally transcended cousin-who's-always-inviting-himself-over-on-every-holiday status)

it took way longer than i thought but i decided to redraw this old comic :D it always bugged me in the years since i posted it how awkward some of the pose/panel direction looked (like when maedhros grabs curufin in page 1), plus i wanted to expand a little on the aftermath that i didnt do back then....!!

ive been a bit burnt out with drawing in general lately so my apologies for this taking a while, but i think im gonna focus on some little doodles and more casual sketches for ask answering to slowly get back into the groove of things 😎 please dont ask me why melkor of all people got hit with the yassification beam. theres no reason at all. absolutely none.......

this piece has gone through the wringer the past year i tell you (a few discarded concepts from april and earlier below the cut). im still trying to figure out how painting works (◡﹏◡)૭

the vague idea behind this is that its supposed to be maedhros in mandos which is why his hand's missing but he doesnt have his usual scars and isnt malnourished. i thought it might be cool to have a companion piece/sequence where eru illuvatar kisses him on the forehead as a gesture of forgiveness, which then washes away the blood and gore on him, but im not confident enough in my ability to convey that the way i'd like with lighting so ill probbaly return to it in a few years 🤞

i think it's been 3 years? since i made my first family tree, but it's always bugged me how messy it was presentation-wise + the possible misinformation caused by the way i didn't clarify that some of the stuff inside was my headcanon. so over my hiatus i decided to remake it haha ^^;; considering how ive made some redesigns in the time since, i think this was rather overdue...!!!

i also wanted a place to put some of the design notes ive been trying to keep track of, so under the cut is an annotated bonus with some extra doodles and miscellaneous information i had a bit of fun going on tangents about:
