Daily MCO Drink #201, MCO Day #203: SAKETINI, made with 2 parts Gekkeikan Daiginjo sake from the Gekkeikan Ōkura Sake Museum, 2 parts Hendrick’s Gin, stirred over ice and strained. . A martini with sake instead of dry vermouth. This sake is a brewery exclusive from the Gekkeikan Ōkura Sake Museum in Kyoto which I’ve had for a couple of years but has been chilling in the fridge until now. . The sake has probably change due to the long years in the fridge, but still has a very umami note that supercedes even the juniper in the gin. Paired with Hendrick’s cucumber note, this is actually a really nice Martini variant that has the umami savoriness of a dirty martini, but without the olive brine. . Note: I used equal parts sake and gin as opposed to some recipes that have 2 parts gin to one part sake. Reason being I wanted the sake to stand out more in this drink. Sake-to-me with the Saje-tini. Recipe: Shake and strain 1 1/2 oz Gin, 1 1/2 oz Sake, 3/4 oz Lime Juice, and 1/2oz Agave nectar. Pour into your martini glass over puréed cucumber frozen into ice ball or block.
