“Due to his mutant blood colour Karkat remains inside for most of his life, if drones come to his door he hides beneath the floor boards to avoid being culled. So ashamed of his blood that he keeps it a secret for a large portion of the story. Cannot leave his house often lest he be culled for being Born Wrong.

“Jun became a shut-in after being bullied heavily at school for his interest in clothing and fashion design. One of his dress designs got submitted to a contest on accident and was chosen as the winner, which lead to the entire school making fun of him for it and calling him creepy. He stopped going to school and stayed home all day where he wouldn't have to talk to or see anyone again.
