Most dancers practiced and trained at Ray Charles Hall but technically Elena wasn’t in Turing as a dancer. She hadn’t set foot in any of the dance studios there. However, over the summer she discovered the last pilates class at the Student Fitness Center ended at 7:30 p.m. and she could have the room for herself for about half an hour -sometimes up to forty five minutes- before someone came in to clean. That someone was normally a familiar face.
She wasn’t supposed to do what she used to do, she wasn’t supposed to push herself, not after the kind of damage her ankle sustained after her fall. But fully giving up ballet just wasn’t an option. With Ludovico Einaudi’s music playing the in the background, Elena worked through some excercises until she noticed in the mirrors on the wall that she was no longer alone.
