PREMIERE OF THE PANTHER - SALIEU as T’CHALLA Before Ta’nehisi Coates took over the writing of the Black Panther Comics reboot, before Chadwick Boseman made his first appearance as T’Challa, I took on the task of finding a top male model of color to embody Black Panther in my annual “Comics Casting” exercise for Halloween. My longtime muse Sal’s sinewy physique, attention-demanding presence and “explosive power under control” vibe made him the perfect choice. TuTchT COMICS CASTING FOR HALLOWEEN! As the second portrait in the 2014 additions, I cast longtime TuTchTmuse Salieu Jalloh as Marvel's Black Panther. Again, this was before heralded writer Ta-Nehisi Coates took over the writing in the comics and before Chadwick Boseman pounced on screen in his debut as part of Captain America: Civil War. The uberchill intensity & powerful sinewy physique of African-born Salieu Jalloh was the perfect embodiment of the character. And as with Sal and T'Challa… both have been making stealthy power moves for years & both have a very bright future!
