Hey meet my oc!! She's from this weird story thing I made on my main account, which basically details the events of a hypothetical 'Salmonling DLC'

Kipper would be the upgrade dealer, trading some kind of currency for sneaking in extra upgrades into the tests. She starts off as pretty cold and dismissive, but over time grows to see the protagonist as a younger sibling. Also She's transfem :3

The other things highlighted here were my references and what differences there would be between salmonlings and the other playable species:

The salmon form is their version of the swim form, being a simplified salmon design meant to look like mostly ink

The Salmonling's hair are their fins, but can be manipulated much like hair and is much more messy to handle than inkling or octoling tentacles

This is also why the "pattern" in their hair is lines instead of dots, its meant to be similar to the fat patterns in salmon and look like fins

The ears are their front fins, which is kind of against the design of inklings and octolings but I thought it would fit better since they are fish

The teeth are the opposite of inkling "teeth"

Their scalara is yellow to match with Salmonids in game

Their hands have webs since salmonids use their fins as their version of hands anyways

The ink colour is twofold in meaning - In Splatoon 2 Octo expansion, they flipped which colour represented the good guys: green was the colour of Agent 4 in the final fight and pink the colour of Octarians, while in Octo Expansion Pink represents agent 8 and green represents the sanitized enemies and primordial ooze.

However, the ooze from Splatoon 3 is a whole cacphony of colours, but is mainly pink and purple. Since the concept art of Salmonids also have pink and very saturated red on their designs, I decided this reddish-pink colour the salmonling ink colour. In this hypothetical DLC, yellow would be the colour of the enemies and the main villain.

Hello everyone! I made three custom brushes for Krita, those being:

- An asymmetrical painting jitter brush (for general painting);

- An ink pen jitter brush (for details/sketching);

- A texture brush (depending on the pressure, the texture becomes more or less full).

The image is a comparison. I traced the official art and tried to paint it as accurately as possible using only my own brushes.

question for splatoon tumblr, since i've been thinking about salmonlings a lot lately. and no there's no "they wouldn't exist" this is a hypothetical if they existed whether inklings and octolings liked it or not.

SPLATOON SALMONOID THEORY... (kinda): So, with little buddy we KNOW he has heard the calamari inkcantion as you can hear him humming it when your in the overworld (well as ‘overworld’ as you can get in alterna) and he chimes in during the 3MIX. We also know that he changes ink color to match you so this brings up the question- ‘Salmonoids can make INK?’ and i mean... i guess so- but salmonoid “Ink” in salmon run scenarios is described as less ink like and more oily (much like the fuzzy octarians...) so HOW did and does little buddy make ink and honestly i am rambling to end in honestly this is very inconclusive- i am a lore connoisseur and so that hurts me to say but what we do know is that Little buddy was separated from his school Then found by Neo3 And between that likely heard the calamari inkcantion  So- what effects does the calamari inkcantaion have on salmonoids? Because as far as we know they aren’t under any ‘mind control’ like the octarians where so what exactly would it ‘Set them free’ from? perhaps the music of the evolved (Being those effected by the alterna crystals) causes some sort of effect in their dna? It is said that “The inkcantaion is written into Inkling and octoling dna” (whatever that means) maybe that somehow applies to salmonoids in some way as well- On a wholly different note that i just thought of right now and makes me feel like a fool for righting all this out but it could also be: Diet- of course salmonoid food would be different than ink/octoling food being they seem somewhat less evolved and also are mainly under water- their food sources would be very different than the mainly land based ink/octolings so perhaps whatever Neo3 feeds them allows them to make/match ink  ALL OF THIS TO SAY: Salmonoids may be effected by the inkcanation or it could just be diet BUT this also means... Salmonlings / Playable salmonoids are posable LISTEN I KNOW ITS UNLIKELY BUT LISTEN If at one point there where ANY salmon in the range of alterna they would have evolved into more humanoid creatures (such as inklings and ALL THE OTHER ONES) you cannot tell me there where like no salmon around alterna I JUST WANT SALMONLINGS PLEASE I ghevbwhw  TLDR 2: SALMONLINGS PLEASE I CANNOT (help me)

thinking on the whole “all salmonids you see in-game are adults and sapient, they just all grew up in different locations and that’s why they all look different” which would imply that, if salmonlings DO exist, they’re like. salmonids that grew up in such incredibly close proximity to cephalopod society to the point that they began to mimic them. (and also might be somewhat agnostic of their race-wide death cult but it’s whatever on that front-)
