There's a lot of talk about how Robin saved Al-An. But let's talk about Robin's recklessness and disregard of her safety born out of her survival guilt and her goal of finding out what happened to Sam at all costs. Let's talk about her fascination with animals and aliens. All of a sudden, her "vessel" is being shared with possibly the last member of a whole race. It's no longer just about her or her sister. What happened to Sam is in the past, Al-An gives her something to fight for in the future.
An AU where Sam is rescued by Marguerit after she finds her wounded but still alive in a cave near a collapse. I've already drawn art from this AU, but for some reason I wanted to depict this moment as well.
I'm gonna put the "read more" break line because I will yap way too much and this post will be like a kilometer long lol. All of this are my ideas for which I doubdt I'll have enough motivation or time to write into a full fic or even just a one-shot
First are some of my headcanons about Ryley post Subnautica and way into the future. The main change is that he lost part his leg after they moved into Sector Zero. He's not allowed to go into the deeper parts of the Sector alone after this incident (not that he wants to). His prosthetic leg is mostly if not fully made from metal so it easily gets cold and painful. Growing out a mullet was originally just for fun but he ended up liking it.
Then I also designed a diving suit by combining the reinforced and cold suit together and clothes for staying on dry land for longer.
few more random headcanons:
Ryley sometimes forgets he's missing over a half of his leg and falls out of bed when getting up
the only reason why their current base is on land (or an iceberg connected to solid land) is because of its size
Paul, Sam, Marguerit and Robin accepted to live with them after some hesitation
Al-An eventually helps them build another portal back to the crater so that they could recover more equipment from the Aurora and get away from the cold weather
while Ryley is weary of Al-An, Bart on the other hand is very excited to discuss their individual researches of the planet
when Alterra and Torgal Corp. eventually find a way to establish contact with them, Paul finally retires and Bart becomes lead researcher of 4546B rather than the CEO (that position is given to a trusted friend/colleague/relative) = the other survivors are offered a position at Torgal Copr which most of them happily accept
Then I went down a rabbithole and drew a little plan of the Sector Zero base.
